@BuffyBoys Whereas I think making season 7 work as well as it could have would have taken a lot more planning than they’d ever needed before, so it kind of feels to me like it just didn’t occur to them that that would be necessary. Which is a shame, but I can see why

@BuffyBoys Yeah definitely!! I speculate that it’s because it just Was a lot more structurally demanding than what they’d done before, and they didn’t realise. For season 5, hitting all the planned points is pretty much enough because it’s much less complicated (though still Great).

@BuffyBoys Which is not great for DB Woodside, and also emblematic of the problems with the season as a whole. Your point about how they seem to have planned out what stuff they needed to hit but not how is a really incisive one; so much seems to have been left to be worked out as they went

@BuffyBoys The thing that Wood really suffers from is they didn’t even know whether he was going to be evil or not by the first episode (according to the episode commentary); by the sounds of things his arc was pretty improvised and it very very much shows
