During Touch of truck, we continue with our tradition of living history. Today's focus was on the American Revolution. We talked about what soldiers carried on a day-to-day basis. For the bread oven we did sippets, asparagus, fire cakes, and toad in a sprocket.
Students learned more about the Revolutionary War by interacting with historical interpreters from the SHC and the Cumberland County Historical Society.
We want to welcome our newest intern from Shippensburg University, Anna to our summertime team. She will be participating as a historical interpreter in all of our programming, educational programming, daily operations, and helping to make clothing.
At Shippensburg History Center, we have been gearing up to have four squares of Colonial garden, and now it was time to make it happen. Several of us worked hard to get the weeds out that had cropped up there. All of them are plants that were used in the Colonial period.
What a fantastic evening with a fantastic group of CTAs from the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. We look forward to hosting groups just like these in the future.
What a beautiful weekend it was at historic Fort Loudoun for their Across the Centuries event. New for this year it was decided that we would interpret the Alamo at Across the Centuries.
What a wet Saturday it was at the annual Market Fair at Fort Frederick, Maryland. You can find all kinds of things from tin, pottery, fabric, sewing notions, and even coffee beans. Just about anything that a historical site would need who does historical programming.
Sights from the America250PA Parade in downtown Chambersburg. Thank you to the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center staff for a wonderful experience with almost 100 entries. Some of the photos were sent to us and or were taken by our staff.
This is a behind the scenes look at making our historical clothing. This is a War of 1812 U.S. Army roundabout coat that we recently sewed. We want to thank the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) for their sponsorship of our War of 1812 program.
The Fort Loudoun Christmas Market Fair is an annual event. Thank you to Fort Loudoun for inviting us to participate with the artillery programs and operating the oven.
Tavern Night at Fort Loudoun PA was a great success! The visitors really enjoyed themselves while interacting with the fort's staff and other volunteers. Thank you Fort Loudoun for inviting us to come out and participate in your wonderful events.
We're sharing and preserving Shippensburg's history with engaging and hands-on educational programs. Will you support what we do?

We are constructing the Grand Union flag for #America250PA, a flag that was first adopted by the Continental army on December 3, 1775. If you would like to help hand stitch our flag, please feel free to come in.
Our presentation of the Cumberland Valley during the American Revolution for the IRP group at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA. We want to thank our host for having me come in for the discussion.
Saturday was a great day to do some research on Domestic Engines. These gentlemen were able to look at the ledgers and look up the engine numbers for what they have on such a dreary Saturday afternoon.
