The Panama Maritime Authority reaffirms its commitment to transparency and global security. Our team actively participated in the Masterclass on Sanctions and Strategic Trade Controls, a high-level training program designed to strengthen risk mitigation in the public sector.
In addition, the agreement will boost local maritime employment: it will create onboard positions for Panamanian officers and cadets, and will include specialized training programs to enhance the global competitiveness of our seafarers.
President José Raúl Mulino witnessed the partnership between Nautilus Manning Agency and the Greek shipping company Tsakos. As an initial step, it was announced that four new Panamax tankers will be registered under the Panama Registry by 2028.
The government committed to implementing proactive measures to resolve the situation of Panamanian vessels in China. Minister José Ramón Icaza supplemented the proposal by presenting the Panama Canal’s strategic projects and the expansion of the national logistics infrastructure.
President Mulino met in Greece with Greek shipowners, who represent some 500 vessels flying the Panamanian flag. Mr. Ramón Franco, outlined the advantages in terms of sustainable efficiency and regulations aimed at strengthening the Ship Registry and attracting new clients.

The PMA had a prominent presence at this forum through its Ambassador and Consul General in Singapore, H.E. Sebastián Breton Pérez, who served as a panelist in a session focused on the future of the industry, addressing key issues such as decarbonization and digitalization.
On April 22, Singapore became the epicenter of the maritime sector with the hosting of the ASA Shipping Dialogue 2026. Under the theme “Asia in Action: Delivering on Shipping’s Shared Ambition,” industry leaders and policymakers gathered to chart a roadmap for regional shipping.
