Who likes bacon? Cave bacon has long colorful streaks made from water mixing with minerals and repeatedly flowing down the same path. This creates stripes of alternating colors akin to meat and fat.

Texas springs and rivers are in really bad shape right now, and maybe none worse than the iconic Jacob's Well in Wimberley. The photo on the left is how the well is supposed to look. The photo on the right is its current dismal state of zero flow.
