@ChiromoHospGrp "Survival of the fittest, the world is a jungle, high competitiveness", these are a heavy burden on the African Boy child's shoulders. A man cannot be allowed a day to just take time out and rest because patriachy says no. My heart bleeds for the boy child.

@ChiromoHospGrp They assume boychild knows the way or boychild does not need direction. This leads to dropouts in school, substance and drug abuse, sexual abuse and criminal activities. It has also set girls and boys into competition.

@ChiromoHospGrp@G_Mbugua1 No to little support and understanding from people closest to them even when they open up.
Unemployment or no job hence they are not able to provide as 'expected' it's a big one.
@ChiromoHospGrp Men will continue to suffer mentally trying to live up to it's expectations unless they start unlearning and learning practices that will favor them
@ChiromoHospGrp The African boychild is 'expected' to be strong not only physically but also mentally, they are not allowed to do go through some things publicly, "not everybody has to know" type of thing. In some instances even when they seek help the societal expectations overrides that.

#TufungukeNaBoyChild this #MensHealthMonth
It is in that same spirit that CHG brings together over 100 individuals from 8 different African Countries for an Africa Tweetchat this coming Monday from 10-11AM to unpack 'THE MENTAL HEALTH OF THE AFRICAN BOYCHILD' to honor #MensHealthMonth and celebrate the African Boy Child.
While it is true that most boys grow up in environments that force them to be tough and emotionally closed off, it is only fair to create a much better environment that involves opening up to the right people for help

Well, many people have gotten into the trap of defending the girl-child so much that we have forgotten that the boy-child is still a human being and deserves respect and healthy attention.
(The Standard)
For a long time, the term boy-child has been associated with strength, masculinity, and everything that does not involve crying or being weak.
