Kaz Hirai, former chairman, CEO and president of Sony bowed down to apologize for the 24 day PlayStation blackout in 2011, which was an attack, not their own fault🚀
And now, it took them 30 days to issue a vague statement that boils down to “we have carefully considered ‘strong’ reactions but screw you antway”
Crazy to see how far Sony has fallen off, from this level of respecting players to whatever they are now.
Stop funding people that don’t respect you and only see you as a number, especially when their output is as abysmal and as overpriced as this generation.
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
A 10 year-old boy from Japan discovered that butterflies can remember their time as caterpillars.
Jo Nagai noticed his caterpillars still loved him after turning into butterflies, and the affection he had for them led to a genuine scientific discovery.
I needed to move a sofa.
I mentioned this to an American. He said, "You know anybody with a truck?"
I did not know anybody with a truck.
He looked at me with real concern. Not pity. Concern. The way you look at a man who has told you he does not have a name.
"You gotta know somebody with a truck."
I asked how one acquires such a person.
He said, "You just do."
This is the third time I have received that answer in this country. It is the answer to everything here. You just do. There is no process. There is only the eventual fact of having.
He said, "Ask Kevin."
I do not know a Kevin. He said Kevin like I should. He said it the way you say a shared uncle.
I met Kevin four days later. Kevin owns a truck. Kevin does not own a truck for himself. Nobody owns a truck for themselves. Kevin owns a truck for a fifteen mile radius.
Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS TAKEN A VOW. HE DID NOT ANNOUNCE IT. HE SIMPLY PURCHASED A BED AND ACCEPTED THE CONSEQUENCES.
Kevin arrived on Saturday. He brought the truck. He also brought a second man.
I had not asked for a second man.
The second man's name is Tony. Tony came because Kevin came. Tony did not know me. Tony did not ask what we were moving. Tony brought gloves.
They moved the sofa in eleven minutes.
I offered them money. Both of them laughed at the same time, which felt rehearsed and was not.
I asked what I owed them.
Kevin said, "Buy the pizza."
That is the price. That is the entire economy. The truck costs one pizza and the pizza is not negotiable and the pizza is also not expensive and everyone knows what size.
Inside I said: THE FEE IS FIXED ACROSS THE ENTIRE NATION AND WAS SET BY NO ONE.
We ate on the floor because the sofa was against the wall and none of us wanted to be the first to sit on it.
Tony told me his daughter plays soccer. I asked if she is good. He said, "She's aggressive."
I still think about that.
Three weeks later, Kevin texted me.
"You free Sunday? Helping Tony move a fridge."
He did not ask if I wanted to. He informed me of a fridge.
Inside I said: I HAVE BEEN CALLED UP. I DID NOT ENLIST. THE PAPERS WERE FILED ON MY BEHALF.
I went. I moved the fridge. I have no truck. I contributed only arms.
Afterward, a man I had never met asked me if I knew anybody with a truck.
I said, "Yeah, I got a guy."
I have a guy.
I am somebody's guy now, too. Tony has told two people about me.
He describes me as "the guy who's strong for his size."
I have never been prouder of a sentence in my life.
The largest Piracy site in existence is now in the sights of governments to take it down
Nyaa the world’s largest anime torrent site has become the target of a piracy crackdown following the arrest of a first uploader (seeder) who shared a copyrighted work on the platform.
The Cyber Investigation Division of the Kyoto Prefectural Police and the Fushimi Police Station arrested a man residing in Sagamihara City on July 28, 2026.
With major players like HiAnime and other major anime piracy sites dead. CODA and other agencies will likely shift their attention to Nyaa in a bid to curb the copyright infringement that has reportedly bled the anime industry dry for years.
This could be the great burning of Alexandria in Anime form if it continues to escalate.
The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago. Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.
A gameplay animator at Sucker Punch, the studio behind Ghost of Yotei, has found success with his own indie game on Steam.
Jean Nguyen, founder of Team Spino, released Dinoblade, an action RPG where you play as a Spinosaurus with a giant sword. The game sold 36,000 copies in its first 24 hours.
“36,000 copies sold in 24 hours. The last 24 hours has been an emotional rollercoaster.”
Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida says Japan Studio was shut down because Sony’s priorities changed to focus on AAA
According to Yoshida, Sony “wanted to drive hardware sales with games like God of War and Uncharted.”
As PlayStation focused more on big-budget AAA exclusives, there was less room for the kind of smaller, creative games Japan Studio was known for.
Yoshida also pointed out that the rise of indie games made it even harder for mid-sized AA titles to find their place.
Japan Studio gave us classics like Ape Escape, Gravity Rush, Patapon, LocoRoco, The Last Guardian, and also worked on Bloodborne and the original Demon’s Souls.
Looks like the problem affects both PS4 and PS5 games purchased after March 2026 due to the latest updates' 30-day online license check for digital games.
So people with extended internet outages have no access to certain games.
PlayStation Network is down again for millions of users, and people can’t play their license-purchased games.
Players around the world are reporting they can’t sign in, play online, access the PlayStation Store, or use other PSN features.
This is the future PlayStation is pushing: once servers are down or have problems, all your games will be useless.
