Tempe has turned off its Flock automated license plate reader system and will end its contract with the company. The cameras are no longer collecting license plate data, and Tempe will not seek another company to replace the system.
While the cameras have helped Tempe Police solve crimes, recent misuse of automated license plate reader systems in Arizona and nationwide has raised concerns about the risks that come with the technology.
Tempe Police has found no misuse of its own Flock system.
Flock will remove its cameras, and previously collected data will be automatically deleted after 30 days unless it is connected to an ongoing case or investigation.
Read through the slides to learn more about the decision and what it means for Tempe.
@Russian_Longist@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport >Doesn't take Weiss as evidence that Long hated Smith
>Takes Weiss as evidence that Long didn't hate Smith
???
Smith very openly was in charge of the presentation that's why he gave the eulogy, nor was it a open secret that Long held disdain for Smith.
@Russian_Longist@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Who exactly organized the funeral? Smith! He couldn’t have been “not invited” because he was a key part in making the whole thing, it doesn’t matter what Long thought of him if Smith could simply do it anyways, and Long didn’t leave in will “kick him out”, so I see irrelevancy.
@Russian_Longist@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Like the other person mentioned, and I’ve already mentioned, this doesn’t mean anything, I’m not “taking away Smith’s credit” but Long had disdain for him and he was clearly already going off the wrong path, Smith was trying to take over the machine, why would he NOT do this?
@Russian_Longist@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport This is the problem I mentioned before, nothing but Long himself publicly announcing it would be enough for you.
I’m not sure why you want Long to like Smith so much, but giving a eulogy at his funeral doesn’t mean anything considering the mess that was the post-Long machine.
@Russian_Longist@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Okay, so I did investigate this, and you're looking at the wrong thing here.
The quote about Smith comes from Frank Odom, one of the several other people cited in that citation, Odom was heavily tied to Long's political machine (not to be confused with the other Frank Odom).
@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Unless Huey Long revived himself and proclaimed "I HATE GERALD LK SMITH" you'd find another excuse, then another excuse, and another. There's no coordinated takedown of the Long-Smith relationship, its just how it was.
@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport You have to be genuinely insane if you think someone's distant ancestry makes them apart of a secret cabal, I cannot believe people these days are this delusional.
@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Because Long wasn't openly parading that he didn't like Smith?? Is this not obvious??
This is like talking to a communist, everything is chalked up to propaganda/psyop/lie while only vague aesthetics is provided as evidence.
@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Carl Weiss was not a jew, he was raised a roman catholic and his family had long been roman catholic, he had faint german-jewish ancestry through his grandfather, i do wonder why no evidence is never provided for bullshit like this
@GrandUnionist@SkeetMonth@NewDealLover1@clashreport Smith went far right after his death
"Long grew to intensely dislike and distrust Smith due to Smith's erratic behavior and general instability. By the end of his life he began actively avoiding Smith and made plans to fire him at some point (Brinkley p. 172; Williams p. 700)"
