This is the exact same advice we have been communicating to the U.S. @StateDept, @AsstSecStateAF for the past fifteen years. Today, an increasing number of U.S. lawmakers are echoing the exact message: Somaliland is a pro-American, highly strategic nation in Africa. Supporting Somaliland is vital to U.S. strategic interests. It is high time the U.S. recognises where its strategic interests truly lie. @SecScottBessent@SecRubio
Western media coverage of the UAE tends to centre on its involvement in conflicts such as Yemen.
What gets far less attention is its economic footprint in Africa: ports, infrastructure, trade and capital at scale.
The UAE is now the #1 GCC investor and the 4th largest globally in Africa with $100bn+ invested and 20,000+ African companies operating from the UAE.

The President has the legal authority to exercise his constitutional powers and dissolve the Guurti, thereby ending the cycle of election delays and term extensions. #Somaliland
We inaugurated Shabeely Resort, one of the flagship projects under the Dine for Generations initiative, which spans 385 hectares. Shabeely is not only a resort, but also a living expression of the rich heritage of the Somali Region, seamlessly blending modern architecture with ancient traditions. This eastern region project, among many others, marks a significant milestone in fulfilling our promise to make Ethiopia one of Africa’s top tourist destinations. The region’s abundant natural landscape, combined with the partnerships forged through Medemer’s endeavour, powerfully demonstrates that Ethiopia is not only a nation that dreams, but one that turns those dreams into reality.
This should define Somaliland’s border going forward. Areas like Las Anod that choose Mogadishu should be excluded. With clear borders and stability, Somaliland can focus on becoming one of Africa’s strongest nations. #Hargeisa
One leader in power since 1999. Five peaceful transfers next door.
Now even Djibouti’s opposition is saying it openly.
Democracy in the Horn has an address. It’s Somaliland.

ISRAEL OPENS A NEW FRONT — ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY
After Israel recognized Somaliland, Israeli companies moved fast.
According to i24NEWS, two firms are leading entry into the Somaliland market:

“Since re-establishing our republic and restoring functional governance, we have moved away from the path of begging. We now say to the world: let us cooperate.”

⚡️BREAKING: Multiple reliable diplomatic sources confirm that Morocco, Kenya, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and India are set to formally recognize the Republic of Somaliland today. A coordinated announcement is expected. Stay tuned for further updates.
The UNSC meeting exposed Somalia’s contradictions. On one hand they speak of “unity,” on the other they openly advocate dividing Hargeisa, Borama, and Lasanod. This confusion weakens their case. The sensible path is to let Somaliland move forward and focus on fixing Somalia’s own challenges.
Street protests erupted in Somalia's capital after Israel became the first country to formally recognize Somaliland as an independent state on Dec 26, 2025
Crowds were seen tearing and trampling Israeli flags, channeling fury over what many view as an attack on Somalia's sovereignty.
Somalia's 2025 federal budget still depends on foreign aid for roughly 70% of its funding (per IMF/World Bank estimates), with the U.S. playing a major role. This heavy reliance highlights just how vulnerable Mogadishu is to geopolitical shifts like this one.
Senator Cruz urges President Donald Trump to acknowledge Somaliland as an independent nation, highlighting Israel's recent acknowledgment and emphasizing its importance as a strategic action to counteract China's influence in the Horn of Africa while supporting an ally in the fight against terrorism.
As President Trump has recently suggested that he opposes Somalia as a fake country where people just kill each other and send their citizens to America to commit fraud and destroy states like Minnesota, Qatar just released this statement defending Somalia, and attacking Israel as “Israeli occupation authorities” over Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
The Muslim Brotherhood has spoken.
The biggest regret of the GOP will eventually be normalizing Qatar. The Qataris just can’t help but enable Islamic terrorism.
As Somalis continue to defraud America to fund Islamic terror abroad in Somalia, Qatar is defending Somalia.
How much more evidence do people need to see that Qatar is not our ally?
I announced today the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
Together with Foreign Minister Sa'ar and the President of the Republic of Somaliland, we signed a joint and mutual declaration.
This declaration is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, signed at the initiative of President Trump.
I congratulated the President of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdallah, and praised his leadership and commitment to promoting stability and peace. I invited the President to pay an official visit to Israel.
The President thanked me for this historic declaration and expressed appreciation for my achievements in fighting terrorism and advancing regional peace.
I thank Foreign Minister Sa’ar, the Head of Mossad David Barnea and the Mossad, for their contribution to today’s development, and I wish the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.
The State of Israel plans to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and economy.
