Imagine a foreign government doesn't like what your country is doing, and decides to change it. Without asking you.
That's what Putin is doing in the Baltic states. He just got his first big win in Latvia. 🧵 [1/13]
Sweden will transfer the first 16 Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine.
Thank you, Sweden! 🇸🇪🇺🇦
These are JAS 39 Gripen C/D multirole fighters - aircraft Ukraine had previously described as among the most sought-after for strengthening its combat aviation.
Ukraine and Sweden also signed a declaration on deepening defense cooperation.
@vingeophysicist@P_Kallioniemi "Generally a beautiful place", well, you also know that SPb is considered the "PR city of ruzzia"... That's cherry-picking.

On this day, exactly 4 years ago, Pisskov said:
"We appeal to reason! What sense would it make for Russia to attack anyone?! Russia has never attacked anyone in its entire history. Russia is the last country in Europe to even utter the word 'war.'"
Four days later, russia attacked Ukraine.
The lesson is simple: russia always lies! I will repeat this axiom again - russia always lies.
The implication of this axiom: For any negotiation to be successful, both sides must trust that the agreed conditions will be honored.
Ukrainians would have to trust that Putin would uphold a peace agreement. But the only thing we can reliably trust about Putin is that he lies — consistently and without consequence. This is the same man who repeatedly and publicly claimed he had no intention of invading Ukraine, only to launch a full-scale invasion days later.
From the Budapest Memorandum — where russia committed to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty — to hundreds of direct Kremlin falsehoods like “we are not going to attack Ukraine,” the pattern is constant. They lie as a matter of state policy. Any guarantees issued by russia are worth nothing.
Now imagine a scenario in which a “peace agreement” is signed. Trump declares it “the best deal ever” and even announces some form of security guarantees.
Then, one day, russia claims there was an assassination attempt on Putin. Ukrainian drones allegedly targeted his residence. No evidence is required — perhaps a few fabricated photos or videos will do. The Kremlin declares the agreement void and resumes military operations. That’s it.
This is not hypothetical. This is how russia operates. They fabricate pretexts. They lie reflexively. They break promises without hesitation.
You cannot make agreements with liars. And you cannot build peace on the word of a regime that has never honored it.
The only way to stop russia is to arm Ukraine.
An opinion: @Kasparov63 on Russia’s imminent fall; Europe moving in the right direction at a turtle speed and censorship for the sake of diplomacy.

1. “You don’t negotiate with cancer.”
🇳🇴🇺🇦 I’m Norwegian, you better believe the @Olympics have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, especially the Winter Olympics.
Here on X, I’m rarely personal. I both assume, and hope, that most people who follow me now and from the most recent years, do so because they seek news and updates about Ukraine, and not about me — who I am or what I do.
So this post is probably more personal than usual. But today it feels painfully relevant.
During the last Summer Olympics (2024), I was part of the main reporting team for our national coverage. I was the lead correspondent for our “home team,” doing daily live reports from various locations and hometowns of our athletes.
Not a single day went by without me visibly wearing and showing my support for Ukraine. Be it a pin of the blue and yellow, my trident bracelet or my Ukraine necklace. Mostly, it was all of them at the same time.
It was visible in my EVERY SINGLE SEGMENT!
NO ONE from our production team or audience objected to this!
NOT A SINGLE PERSON questioned it as political or odd to wear the colors and/or a flag of another nation!
On the contrary, It was acknowledged as an honorable, and more than anything: an appropriate gesture.
I can’t even count the amount of times I was asked questions about my work in Ukraine and the reality of life there. It stated conversations, to me it was the bare minimum, but it ended up being part of the ground from where understanding and support grew from. And to me, that’s the biggest achievement.
The winter Olympic is (for many reasons) even more exciting to be part of and to even watch, for us Norwegians. But right now, I feel more distant from it than ever.
Not only have they forced Ukrainian athletes to stand face to face with the same people who is stealing their land and killing their people,
(And I don’t care if they’ve asked these “neutral” athletes if they; “support the war or not”? Did they ask them what they have done to oppose it? No!
Is there even a “neutral” answer to whether a genocide against another nation is right or wrong!? No!
So there is that.
There is no “neutral” in this war, And silence is only another weapon that benefits the aggressor.)
But when hearing the IOC claim, that signs of remembrance and memorial is political, that’s where the “unity of sport” ends for me!
This ban of @heraskevych has made me feel so disgusted about this entire organization and event, that I truly can’t even watch it.
I’m always exited for my fellow Norwegians and their incredible achievements, but they don’t need an organization or a worldwide event for me to feel that way about them. No athletes does. Neither does a celebrity or a politician.
Beyond talent and dedication, at the end of the day, what matters is what you stand for! Not numbers, money, popularity or rankings, but your level of empathy, care and respect for others.
That’s not political. It’s basic humanity.
And it should always be at the very center of what unites us.
Like gatherings & competitions, sports & the Olympics.
This is where we come together, and if one competitor cheats, steals and kill another, the judge should never tell an opponent it’s a violation to pay tribute to the victims or call out the wrongdoings.
When we should understand by now, that the real violation is letting the criminals back in and ignoring every bit of foul play they have ever done to others.
Wear the blue and yellow, say their names. Talks about Ukraine. Call out russia and show their many war crimes to the world!
Your one voice don’t need a massive international stage to be heard, we can all create this echo together!
You don’t need an audience, because WE ARE the audience.
We set the tone for this show!
❗️"The size of the Ukrainian army is not a problem, because it has not attacked Russia. The size of the Russian army is a problem for all of its neighbors."
— Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
I want to thank everyone for all the support we’re receiving. There really is an incredible amount of it.
For me, the sacrifice of the people depicted on the helmet means more than any medal ever could - because they gave the most precious thing they had.
And simple respect toward them is exactly what I want to give.
I was told by journalists that I wouldn’t be invited to certain parties after confronting Witkoff at Davos. Who cares. The point of journalism to is hold power to account and tell the truth. This is what is wrong with the media. Partying with corrupt politicians & lobbyists
🇫🇮 If you need calm, clear & strong voice of leadership, in contrast to the unhinged orange man, look no further than to Finnish President Alexander Stubb who always speaks volumes without ever raising his voice.
- Can Europe defend itself without the Americans? My answer is unequivocally: yes.
If there’s one person who understands the strategic reality on the ground in Europe, it’s General Ben Hodges. He spent years commanding U.S. Army Europe. He knows exactly how the Kremlin operates. In this latest interview with LBC, the General doesn't pull any punches.
He lays out the cold, hard truth: while Trump is playing political games and taking two-hour coaching calls from putin, Ukraine is fighting for its life—and for the security of the entire West.
Hodges cuts right through the 'peace deal' noise to show how the current US administration is effectively carrying water for the Kremlin by pushing a narrative of Russian 'inevitability.'
This is the voice of reiason we should be listening to before the Trump administration sells out Ukraine..
LBC Presenter: Ben, your reaction to what we've heard from President Trump over the last few hours?
Ben Hodges: Well, unfortunately, it's clearer now than ever before that President Trump is unfortunately taking the side of the Kremlin. I mean, to have a two-hour phone call with vladimir putin before you go into a meeting with President Zelenskyy—of course, that gave putin the opportunity to give the President all of the talking points, which the President then used during the meeting and during the press conference.
It's just... it was embarrassing. I think it was probably his worst performance in a long list. But to hear the President of the United States basically carry water for the Kremlin by talking about the "inevitability" of a Russian victory, and "why not just have a deal now so you don't lose it later"—that reinforces putin’s main narrative.
And then, worst of all, was the false equivalency of "Russia's attacks on Ukraine" and "Ukraine's attacks on Russia." I mean, Russia is attacking civilian infrastructure—apartment buildings, hospitals, the energy grid. Ukraine is attacking oil and gas, and military targets. There is no equivalency there.
And then the final thing that I thought was just so galling was the President saying, "Well, you know, if we have a ceasefire, it would be very difficult for putin to start his military back up again." He was actually expressing sympathy for the challenge the Kremlin would have in restarting their military operations.
LBC Presenter: And also saying that he "thinks putin wants what's best for Ukraine"—which I imagine will go down like a bucket of cold sick in Kyiv.
‼️BREAKING: ZELENSKYY RESPONDED TO INDIAN PM AND OTHERS WHO UNFAIRLY CONDEMNED UKRAINE FOR A STAGED ATTACK ON PUTIN'S DACHA
"You know what honestly causes confusion and, well, uncomfortable feelings? That representatives from India, the Emirates, and several other countries condemned supposed drone strikes on Putin's residence that never even happened. But where's their condemnation? By the way, condemnation of the fact that they're bombing our children and killing our people this whole time. I don't hear anything from India or the Emirates about that, to be honest," - Zelenskyy said to journalists on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Mr. Narendra Modi,
Remember a Russian missile strike on the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration building. March 29, 2022. ?
Thirty-seven people were killed in the attack.
You publicly condemn an alleged attack on Putin - an attack that never even happened and for which no evidence exists. You saw nothing.
Yet here, right in front of you, is clear and undeniable proof of Russian terrorism. Have you ever once condemned these actions? Have you ever had the courage to speak out against them? You watched with your own eyes as Russia bombed and destroyed civilians, and you never once condemned it. Either you fully support this terrorism, or you are a coward!
Shame on you.
Русские! Россияне! Посмотрите на свои страшные преступления!
Это вы все вместе превратили украинский город Торецк в руины.
