"The best feelings in the world: hot showers, the first bite of a meal when you are really hungry, tight hugs, crawling into bed after a long day, forehead kisses, waking up in the morning and actually feeling like you had enough sleep.” ~Unknown

This is the spectacular Hazel Scott playing two grand pianos at the same time.
Born in Trinidad in 1920, Hazel Scott was a trailblazer in her own right - a prodigious pianist, singer, and actress who captivated audiences with her talent, particularly her iconic "dueling pianos" performances. It's remarkable to consider how Scott broke barriers as a Black woman in the entertainment industry during the 1940s and 1950s. Her television show, "The Hazel Scott Show," premiered in 1950, making her the first Black woman to host her own TV series, a groundbreaking achievement that would pave the way for future icons like Oprah. However, Scott's story takes a darker turn when we examine the impact of government surveillance on her career.
As an outspoken advocate for civil rights, she became a target of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), which put her on a government watch list. This unfortunately led to the cancellation of her TV show, derailing her career and relegating her to a footnote in entertainment history.
