لیکن اگر آپ اگلے چھ مہینے کے لیے خود کو ایک چھوٹا سا چیلنج دیں، تو میرا یقین ہے کہ یہ آپکی سوچ بدل سکتا ہے۔

مجھے یقین ہے کہ اگر آپ یہ کتابیں پڑھیں گے تو آجکی دنیا اور آنے والے کل کے بارے میں آپکا زاویۂ نظر پہلے سے کہیں زیادہ وسیع اور گہرا ہو جائے گا۔

یہ تاریخ کا وہ معجزاتی واقعہ ہے جسے "Miracle on the Hudson" (ہڈسن دریا کا معجزہ) کہا جاتا ہے۔ یہ واقعہ 15 جنوری 2009 کو پیش آیا، جب یو ایس ائیرویز کی پرواز 1549 نے نیویارک کے لاگارڈیا ایئرپورٹ سے اڑان بھری۔

طیارے (Airbus A320) نے جیسے ہی بلندی پکڑنا شروع کی، اڑان کے محض منٹ اور آدھے منٹ بعد ہی اس کا سامنا کینیڈین ہنس (Geese) کے ایک بڑے جھنڈ سے ہو گیا۔ پرندوں کا یہ پورا گروپ طیارے کے دونوں انجنوں کے اندر کھنچ گیا، جس کے نتیجے میں دونوں انجن فوری طور پر مکمل طور پر بند ہو گئے اور ان میں آگ لگ گئی۔ طیارہ فضا میں بالکل بے بس ہو گیا اور اس کی اونچائی تیزی سے کم ہونے لگی۔

طیارے کے کپتان چیسلے "سلی" سولنبرگر (Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger) ایک انتہائی تجربہ کار سابق ائیر فورس پائلٹ تھے۔ ائیر ٹریفک کنٹرول نے انہیں قریبی ایئرپورٹس پر واپس لینڈ کرنے کا مشورہ دیا، لیکن کپتان سلی نے اپنی پیشہ ورانہ مہارت سے فوری حساب لگایا کہ انجن نہ ہونے کی وجہ سے طیارہ کسی بھی رن وے تک نہیں پہنچ سکتا اور اگر وہ آبادی والے علاقے میں گرا تو ہزاروں جانیں جا سکتی ہیں۔ انہوں نے نہایت سرد جنگی اور بہادری کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے طیارے کو نیویارک کے جمدے ہوئے ہڈسن دریا (Hudson River) کی طرف موڑ دیا۔

پانی پر کسی مسافر طیارے کو لینڈ کرنا دنیا کا سب سے مشکل ترین کام مانا جاتا ہے، کیونکہ اگر طیارے کا رخ تھوڑا سا بھی ٹیڑھا ہو جائے تو پانی کی سطح چٹان کی طرح اثر کرتی ہے اور طیارے کے پرخچے اڑ جاتے ہیں۔ کپتان سلی اور ان کے فرسٹ آفیسر جیف اسکلز نے طیارے کا توازن بالکل سیدھا رکھا اور اسے نہایت مہارت سے ہڈسن دریا کی سطح پر اتار دیا۔

لینڈنگ کے بعد جیسے ہی طیارہ پانی پر تیرنے لگا، عملے نے فوری طور پر ایمرجنسی دروازے کھول دیے۔ نیویارک کی سخت سردی اور جمدے ہوئے پانی کے باوجود، قریبی کشتیاں، فیریز اور ریسکیو ٹیمیں چند ہی منٹوں میں طیارے کے پاس پہنچ گئیں۔ پائلٹ کی اس بے مثال مہارت کی بدولت طیارے میں سوار تمام 155 افراد (150 مسافر اور 5 عملے کے ارکان) بالکل محفوظ رہے اور کسی ایک جان کا بھی نقصان نہیں ہوا۔ کپتان سلی سب سے آخر میں طیارے سے باہر نکلے جب انہوں نے یقین کر لیا کہ ہر ایک شخص کو بچایا جا چکا ہے۔

کپتان سلی سولنبرگر کو پوری دنیا میں ایک ہیرو کا درجہ دیا گیا اور ان کی اس حیرت انگیز مہارت پر ہالی ووڈ میں "Sully" کے نام سے ایک مشہور فلم بھی بنائی گئی، جس میں ٹام ہینکس نے ان کا کردار ادا کیا۔

A reporter asked Lamine Yamal how he handles the pressure of carrying Spain at 18. His answer: my mother had me when she was 16, that's real pressure. My father picked things off the street to bring food home, that's pressure. All I have to do is play football.

That's the whole story of who he is, and most fans only know the surface of it.

Before he was born, his teenage parents fell behind on rent. Two neighbors named Lamine and Yamal covered them, and his father vowed his son would carry both names forever. His legal name is a permanent record of a debt his family couldn't repay in money. In Arabic, the names mean "the trustworthy" and "beauty."

His parents split when he was around 5. His mother raised him in Granollers on a fast food wage. And here's the detail almost nobody knows: that job is the reason he became a footballer. Through work she met the daughter of the youth coordinator at CF La Torreta, his first club. When she worried she couldn't cover the fees, he told her that if the boy wants to play, money will never be the reason he can't.

As a kid, Lamine told his parents: if you're counting on me getting a normal job, we're in trouble. But if I become a footballer, you'll never have to worry again.
