@StanRogers83 Yeah of course, what you said is an undeniable fact. But i think presenting it as being "big tent" in the sense of the leadership and organization is not accurate. Because all major orgs were dedicated to a socialist view.
Seeing the worst takes imaginable on here about the IRA from unlettered American RWers. Irish Republicanism was not “always Marxist”, its policies changed depending on the decade and iteration; but even in its most left wing and right wing periods, it was/is a big tent.
@ubersocialdem true. but the OIRA and the INLA were both Marxist. My argument is more that organizationally republicanism was a leftist movement post 50's border campaign.
@StanRogers83 "Furthermore, those concepts must be of a particular type: 'All potential volunteers must be socialist in outlook.'" - Green Book
You can argue that the individual opinions of republicans may have been "big tent" post 50s but organizationally the movements were socialist
@jambron26 the OIRA and INLA are explicitly Marxist groups.
I'm aware that not every Republican was a socialist or communist but the reality is that after the 50s the republican movement has been dominated by leftist politics
Any Irish person with an ounce of historic memory will view the scenes in Belfast last night - loyalist pogroms, burning families out of their homes - with utter disgust, the only people cheering it on are the worst reactionary elements in the US, Britain and further afield
Probably because nationalists fear the much deadlier migrants from the UK who have killed and burned people out of their homes for a very long time now.
"Self-defense strikes" which are "in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression."
War propaganda isn't supposed to be as transparently deceitful as this.
In 1969 it was Irish Catholic homes.
In 2026 it’s black and brown people’s homes.
History repeating itself. The riot culture was passed to the next generations.
I’m not justifying the brutal stabbing in belfast AT ALL but it’s deceitful not to tell the world, the sudanese chap and the Irish chap were drug buddies.
They knew each other.
This is bad. Fuck the feds

Some foreigners concept of freedom is so interesting to me as a Black American lol. You want Uncle Sam to sanction and bomb your homeland just so you can have the freedom to eat a Popeyes chicken sandwich and listen to Nickelback?
