@ChrisAdamsMLP @pokedaxi See I thought we had boosted shiny odds for raids if you got through all of the deluxe tour to kalos. I am so confused. It 100% wasnt boosted. I raided over 40 dragonites and got 0 shinies, let alone one that was shiny and a background.

@HoodlumCallum I like throwing theories around. Enjoyed reading your posts. Here's something I've been thinking about. What if X, Y, and Z stand for "Past, Present, and Future"? Looking at the X and Y designs of charizard/mewtwo, the Xs add a new typing to them.

And this is the more of a stretch part of this, but maybe Aggron is its Z mega evolution, where it loses a typing, but is strong in one specific typing? I noticed Aggron lost its rock typing when it mega evolves. Just made me think that could point to something like this.
