Ghulam Sarwar Hussaini, the scion of a Muslim Pir family, and his followers and goons( known as the Miyar Fauj (Miah's Army মিয়ার ফৌজ)) prepared the stage for the massacre in Noakhali, later on East Pakistan, by spreading provocative speeches in various rallies in 1946.
The main pogrom started on the 10th of October, on Kojagari Lakshmi Puja day, when the Bengali Hindus were involved in puja activities.
Ghulam Sarwar instructed the Muslim masses to march towards the Sahapur market.
Another Muslim League leader, Kasem, also arrived at the Sahapur market with his private army, then known as Kasemer Fauz(literally Kasem’s army).
Hindus were massacred in Bengal the part where they were in majority & which later on became East Pakistan.
