Still thinking about this page sometimes. Mahito in his immaturity doesn't understand there's no true self hidden behind layers of self deception. There's no difference between actions and self, that's why Sukuna reiterate that he had different paths. Free will above all matter
@StrapDeCobra I think so, Gojo already tinkered with his Cursed Technique's targets. Instead of extending it, he automated it and made it more precise. It's definitely a component that can be altered, it's just incredibly difficult to do.
@ShamanUnholy to see all the narrative importance set up for Megumi (the heads of the Gojo and Zenin clan killing themselves, his CT potential, etc) to be completely stolen away by Sukuna, mirroring the body hopping happening in-universe is one of the most daring writing decisions I've seen
@ShamanUnholy One of the best moments I experencied when reading JJK was when Gojo got free and agreed to a date for his fight with Sukuna, I remember being hyped but annoyed by the unavoidable training arc that was going to take place, only to be flashbanged by the next chapters
@barbiesukuna Funny how it's the first time Sukuna's relating to Yuji, you can tell the wording resonated with him because he used the same sentence after
@gojokuns_ everything is a chekov's gun or a plotline with these guys. These moments are mostly here to show that the world and the characters are actually larger than what is shown. It's flavor to make sure the story doesn't get too stale.
i've seen people bring up yuuji's "me and my suffering" and since i'm annoying i'm bringing up again one of my fav jjk fun facts which is that gege used gikun, so yuuji only said "me" but the kanji here is misfortune, so it's as if he's /equating/ his own self to suffering, +
@jojoslyfe21 Meanwhile it's okay for Yuki to go "no uh your high grade cursed spirits are all useless because my CT that just got introduced has that random mechanic that makes me able to ignore concept-based CTs"
@FormerSoulKing But I agree that Simurians seem to bring another vision of cursed energy. Even if it's still negative energy, the lack of cycle of curses narratively paint them as harmonious beings coming to earth with hope and harmony
@FormerSoulKing Idk, I think your vision of cursed energy is too narrow. The power system is cynical but does include empathy as long as it's through the lens of self-affirmation. Personal growth is right on the spectrum of what jujutsu condones, as long as it's not negation of self like Megumi
@psychewritesbs I think there's a direct link between collective unconscious and jujutsu. That'd explain the emergence of modern CTs. Dabura exposed to a new collective unconscious pulls new info from that space (reverse crossing: death/immaterial stepping on life/material)
@fujomoder It's about tension. A lot of authors struggle with it but gay romances often have an inherent tension, bcs the world is homophobic. Normal romances have "does this person like me", gay ones add "is this relationship even possible?" "What if someone catches us?", etc.
@Tommytfc2 Even if the in-universe logic makes sense, narratively Yuji always used Black Flash against the strongest opponent of a given arc. It symbolized his determination to overcome hardships. I'm okay with Modulo painting another narrative, but the casualness ruins BF's importance
@barbiesukuna Imo we're just seeing another case of Yuji's unhealthy coping mechanism: trauma and grief leading him to repress his Ego + copying someone else's mentality but twisting its conclusion. It's the same process that birthed "cog mentality" and I think it'll be defeated again
HOLY SHIT. Gege foreshadowed this WAY harder than we realized.
Yuji literally told us he gets lonely, that he’s sensitive, that he needs people around him…
and look where JJK MODULO puts him.
Strongest alive. Completely isolated. No friends left.
#JJkModulo20
Yuji coming to a twisted conclusion as a coping mechanism for his grief is nothing new and I’ve always fucked with it. He called himself a cog to cope with Shibuya before achieving a new revelation in Shinjuku. This is his coping mechanism for being the strongest.
@Batscumdump@OkIPullUp_ "It's time we end this cycle of curses". More or less a title drop since "Kai" in Kaisen means “to rotate” or “circle around”. Basically, JJK can be read as “Endless/Cyclic Battle of Curses.”
That's not to say that ambitious = quality, but if I had to choose between a safe 1:1 re-creation of manga panels, or an adaptation that tries to make the most of its animated format, even if it is sometimes to a fault (in some cases more than others) I'd still choose the latter.
