Mauritanian authorities arrested 17 people in Bassiknou, in the Hodh Ech Chargui region near the Malian border. Among those arrested is Sanda Ould Bouamama (Sidi Mohamed Ould Bouamama), a former spokesman for Ansar Dine, part of JNIM.
In audio recordings, Sadou had repeatedly spoken about JNIM activities in Mauritania.
