Delighted to join my colleagues today @AberlourCCT @JohnPMRyan for the @MTMTcon celebrating the power of relationships in creating healing environments for young people
@VylaRollins @JohnPMRyan @BernhardKerres Great idea! Apologies- just returning to Twitter after a wee self care break from social media!!! Lovely to hear from you @VylaRollins
It is important to know that “Psychologist” isn’t a protected title & only certain types of psychologist can register with the HCPC. Anyone can call themselves a psychologist without qualification. Pleased to see @UK_ACP looking into this to promote change to protect the public
I took a child out for an adventure during our session today
Boy “I always want to go out it makes me happy but most homes I have lived in tell me they are busy/ it’s too wet etc”
Lesson: “it’s not about you it’s about the child”
Outdoors play proven to improve wellbeing 🤷♂️
With the pandemic, so much is beyond our control. Yet we always have the power to choose how we relate to the difficulties we face. With this power, we step into our resilience, and we see that there is always much that remains under our control.

Just uploaded some resources to my website https://t.co/ZII0FZ2fCR supporting adults to talk about emotions with young people and supporting the creation of emotionally responsive environments.
Fab and accessible resource about developmental trauma. Watch “Sowing Seeds: Trauma Informed Practice for Anyone Working with Children and Young People” by @ndsscotland on #Vimeo https://t.co/6ZIVul9eLy
This resonates time and time again. Rather than increase the pressure on a child to return to school maybe we need to re-define / re-create the space in which they can learn.
The most colourful of reminders this morning, from @blessingmanifesting (Instagram), to check our battery.

It's so important for our selves and our children that we are not trying to run on empty.
🧡
So, how are you today?
Fantastic feedback from young people in care about their experience of education in lockdown and their hopes for learning in the future. It’s time to listen 👂 One size does not fit all!
