Two original Power Rangers legends who will never be forgotten ⚡💚💛

Before Power Rangers became a global franchise, Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang helped give it a heart fans could actually connect with.

Jason David Frank turned Tommy Oliver from the mysterious Green Ranger into one of the most enduring characters in Power Rangers history. His journey through the Green, White, Red, and Black Ranger eras made him a constant presence across different generations of the franchise, and his connection with fans continued long after he left regular television.

Thuy Trang’s Trini Kwan, meanwhile, brought calm strength, intelligence, and warmth to the original team. As the first Yellow Ranger, she became part of the foundation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and remains deeply loved by fans who grew up with that original lineup.

Their careers took different paths, but both became inseparable from the era that started everything.

Jason passed away in 2022, while Thuy was lost in 2001, but neither has faded from the fandom they helped build.

For millions of fans, Tommy and Trini were never just Rangers. They were part of childhood.

Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang helped create the legacy that Power Rangers is still standing on today. 🕊️

4 years without the legendary Jason David Frank, today would've been his 53rd birthday 🎂⚡

Tommy Oliver was originally introduced as the enemy the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had to defeat. Instead, the Green Ranger became so popular that Jason David Frank’s character grew into one of the most enduring heroes in the entire franchise.

Frank returned to Tommy again and again, taking him from Green Ranger to White Ranger, Zeo Ranger V Red, Red Turbo Ranger, and eventually Dr. Tommy Oliver, the veteran Black Dino Ranger guiding a new generation. Few actors became as closely identified with Power Rangers as he did.

His memorable roles include:
Green Ranger (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers)
White Ranger (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie)
Black Dino Ranger (Power Rangers Dino Thunder)
Zeo Ranger V Red (Power Rangers Zeo)
Red Turbo Ranger (Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie)
Lord Drakkon (Power Rangers: Shattered Grid / Battle for the Grid)
White Dragon (Legend of the White Dragon)
Bloodshot (Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe)
Emissary (Transformers: Titans Return)
and many more!

The colors changed, the powers changed, and years passed—but Tommy Oliver always felt like Jason David Frank’s character. His bond with Ranger fans lasted far beyond the original series and made his appearances feel like reunions rather than simple cameos.

Happy heavenly birthday to Jason David Frank 💚🕊️

25 years after saying goodbye to the very first Yellow Ranger, Thuy Trang 🕊️💛

Thuy Trang was only 27 when she passed away on 2001, but as Trini Kwan in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, she became permanently woven into the childhood of an entire generation.

She appeared in roughly 80 episodes, helping establish the original Ranger lineup that turned the series into a worldwide phenomenon.

Trini was remembered for her courage, compassion and quiet strength, while Trang herself gave countless young fans a hero they could grow up with. Her career was tragically brief, but her place in pop culture never disappeared.

Twenty-five years can pass. Childhood heroes have a way of staying exactly where we left them 🕯️🟡

Gone too soon at just 27 — we lost the original Yellow Ranger 25 years ago today. 🕊️💛

For countless Power Rangers fans, Trini Kwan will always be the original Yellow Ranger—the calm, intelligent, and courageous member of the team who stood alongside Jason, Zack, Kimberly, and Billy during the series’ earliest adventures.

Thuy Trang brought warmth and quiet strength to Trini, helping establish the character during the phenomenon that made Mighty Morphin Power Rangers one of the defining children’s shows of the 1990s.

Trini Kwan / Yellow Ranger (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers)

Trang’s life and career ended far too soon, but her place in Power Rangers history never faded. Fans still hold the original Yellow Ranger close, and Trini remains an inseparable part of the team that started it all.

Rest in peace, Thuy Trang. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger 🕯️🟡
