"No judgement from me."
The feeling of wearing a blanket almost all the time is one reason he likes his robes. And why he adds an extra layer of them in winter.
"Are you alright?"
"A loose adaptation of how my carriage was commandeered in the dead of night."
The plants by the window were unharmed. Evie always stepped around them.
"I went with them, of course. An extra pair of hands."
And someone to watch the carriage--
Sometimes, you have to take the time to remind those that you care about that you do, in fact, care about them, a lot.
It's also Fryeday, so he's brought fish and chips for @AssassinDame.
And then read a couple of messages and got alarmed.
"Is Jacob alright?"
Technically, he'd been engaged, but not married. While it might bring them both into a little disrepute if it came out in polite society, it'd be legal for him to marry again.
His main stumbling block had been finding an opportune moment. And a backdrop. Possibly a horse.
Oh that…
Somehow she had pushed all that out of her mind.
Was he still married? Was he a divorcee? What would the church say?
That last part only mattered in as much as the legalities of it all.
Ah yes, this is why she’d pushed it out of her mind. It was a lot to process.
They'd talked about it last year and then he'd had to go off and nullify his other secret marriage. It was a whole thing. And then, you know, liberating London from the forces of evil.
But honestly he just needs to shut up and propose.
He just. Wants it to be 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵?
“Actually, I’m not betrothed at all.”
“It’s just a— sort of unspoken thing. Where we’re never actually spoken about it.”
“I’m much too busy for all of that anyway.”
"It did."
No way around it: might as well admit it.
"Although I tend to keep an eye out for when you're here either way."
"Are you still babysitting Daisy?"
That had come up, hadn't it?
@NewWolverine The grimace on Henry's face is as though Laura's just taken a dump directly on his brain. Inducing a thought like that, she basically has?
"Oh excellent."
"You really can make a sport out of anything."
She has a Vampire Queen outfit? Well. Maybe he has to match at some point. Couldn't pull off the collar: could probably pull off the cape.
"If you do, then please let me know."
So that's a 'yes'.
“Do you like it, Henry?”
It was rather out there for her usual outfits, with the exception of Victorian Vampire Queen, but the aesthetic was interesting.
“Maybe I will try it on.”
"...that looks beautiful?"
The question mark and the pause is because he's just imagined her wearing it.
And once you imagine something like that, how the heck do you stop?
@AssassinDame "It's easier than jumping into a bale of hay."
Though those were, of course, convenient.
"I regret to inform you I haven't done anything quite as exciting. Just surveillance."
Evie had been on that before she'd gone away. Henry hadn't let it drop.
"Hello. It's been longer than I meant it to be."
There's no longer a need for pretenses. Having popped a chip in his mouth, Henry stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Evie, kissed the top of her head.
"Are you well?"
A stain on her clothing would be a small price to pay to spend some time with him.
“Just the smell of vinegar, which will wear off soon.”
She didn’t plan on trying to hide anywhere tonight, it’s be no big deal.
“Hello stranger.”
@AssassinDame The two of them shared a chair, chips in both their laps. It was big enough for the both of them, provided that they leaned into each other and kept on with their arms around each other.
So, of course, they did.
"Well, a book is often the best camouflage."
@AssassinDame "Still going. Now that we're into spring, that always cheers me up."
Henry smiled at the thought.
"How was your train journey?"
He hadn't been away from London in...at least a year. However long ago it was that he was teleported to India.
Maybe they could fix that?
