If I see “You’re absolutely right” from Claude one more time, I’m gonna absolutely lose my shit.

@lpdahito All of them?!

Now though I mostly use Linux - have a remote linux environment setup with a VS Code based software served in the browser.

What should the DevOps engineer roadmap look like:

𝟭. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 (Python, Go, ...) to write automation scripts

𝟮. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (Linux) and its command-line interface (CLI)

𝟯. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, web servers, including proxies such as Nginx or IIS

𝟰. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿

𝟱. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀

𝟲. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for provisioning and configuration management

𝟳. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝘀: DNS, IP addresses, ports, and the OSI model

𝟴. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗖𝗜/𝗖𝗗) 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 for automating app delivery and deployment stages

𝟵. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀 for real-time oversight of applications, services, and infrastructure

@timokonkwo_ Both.

It's really hard to choose because I just love being able to transform data into something that more people can access or understand.

I do have a slight preference for backend though (styling and design and my weakness).

[ShortCipher @ShortCipher5]

@the_mzakrzewski In this scenario, where you are directly returning - I'd go with B.

And it's unnecessary (in terms of code execution) to have that "else" so rather, why have an extra level - it feels a little like nesting, which I try to avoid.

[ShortCipher @ShortCipher5]

@ChristianLempa I think in any industry and in any position there is always room to improve and to learn continuously.

In IT, particularly programming, I think there's a tend to be learning the "next framework" - rather you should be working on the underlying knowledge.

@ChrisArter This looks interesting, thanks for sharing.

@ahsannoor101 Davinci Resolve

[ShortCipher @ShortCipher5]

@remotejoeclark Also I don't think it has to be "right", or rather something you agree with.

it's good to get conversation from all sides, and also may set off that light bulb.

@xsgames_ I wanted to say HTML, for the web. But I guess that's not so much a programming language, similarly CSS.

So I guess Javascript?

Not only for giving me an entry point into programming (web development) but also for generally powering the web which offers so many great resources.

Superintelligence might be the most impactful technology humanity has ever invented, and could help solve many of the world’s most important problems... but could also be very dangerous and lead to the disempowerment of humanity or even human extinction.
