Messi’s equalizer against Egypt.
Being able to experience that live was something else.
When Egypt went up 2-0, the feeling in the air was somber, but the Argentina fans DID NOT STOP SINGING.
Some Egyptian fans were acting disrespectfully towards Argentina fans and were loudly mocking Messi.
Soon after, Messi assisted Cuti’s goal and they went dead silent. No more singing, chanting, or making fun of Messi. They were just clenching.
As soon as Messi scored the second goal, the stadium ERUPTED with cheering from Argentina fans.
The Egyptian fans immediately sat down, still silent.
Here’s the thing though…it wasn’t regular cheering: it was relief.
Relief that we weren’t all about to witness the GOAT go out in such embarrassing fashion and definitely not without a fight.
Watching Leo roll back the years in real time and start dribbling past players at will like as if he were 10 years younger again…the only way I can remotely describe it is that it felt like a religious experience.
We were witnessing true God-given talent in the flesh.
It’s not like we needed it, but it was just further confirmation that what we had witnessed from him for the last 20+ years was anything but a fluke.

We’ve all complained about Scaloni. We saw how Argentina were poor in previous games.
Today, he made a change. Simeone started the game instead of De Paul.
He may not have played well, but he did his job perfectly, he exhausted Gordon and Spence😂, and he made sure there were no penetrations from that side.
He also did not play his usual two strikers. Alvarez operated from the left in the first half. I remember many pundits saying Argentina play narrow, they don’t use wingers. So, Scaloni decided to actually use wingers, with Messi as a false 9 obviously.
Scaloni’s masterclass wasn’t just starting Simeone. Here comes the changes.
After exhausting the England squad with their dark arts, De Paul came in fresh, and started putting in sweet crosses. Otamendi also came in because he’s an aerial target for those crosses. If you noticed, even before the equaliser, they had so many good crosses and were close to scoring. Gonzalez and Montiel also turned up.
I was complaining about Enzo not playing well, but Scaloni took off Paredes, Enzo dropped deep and just came alive. Should we also mention the delay in the Lautaro substitution? I was wondering why Lautaro didn’t come in earlier, but it was just the perfect time at 81mins.
Please let’s clap for Scaloni. Everything he did today was CORRECT. Please clap for Scaloni👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
BRAZIL IS COMING TO HOUSTON 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
As winners of Group C, the Seleção will play their Round of 32 match at Houston Stadium on June 29. #FIFAWorldCup#WeAreHouston
All the records broken by Lionel Messi today:
Most FIFA World Cup finals goals by a football (soccer) player - 18
Most FIFA World Cup matches played in by an individual - 28
Most matches won by a player at the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 18
Most minutes played in the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 2,489
We are witnessing history.
When i saw him lose 3 consecutive finals for Argentina i didn't think i'd see the day where this man would get to retire in peace. So glad things turned around for him & we saw him getting worshipped like a God in the same stadium that once booed him. Poetic justice.
With these new lottery odds the Thunder could land a top 3 pick from the 76ers who made the playoffs
And the Wizards who won 17 games could end up at pick 12
How does anyone think this is for the betterment of the league?
