Taliakhum John Longkumer is a 1991 batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. Serving most of his career in Left Wing Extremism areas, he has an impressive record leading successful operations on numerous occasions. An exceptional officer and leader serving in various capacities, his impeccable service earned him many medals, amongst which, he was notably awarded the Presidents Medal for Distinguished Service in 2016. After his retirement from service in 2023 as DGP, Nagaland he was appointed as the State Election Commissioner.

Jonathan is a multi award winning cricket veteran having represented Karnataka State throughout various stages of his career, the prestigious Ranji Trophy with both Railways and Nagaland and also plied his trade in England, playing club cricket for Morecambe CC and Kendal CC. He is notably the first Naga to score a century in Ranji Trophy and the first from Northeast to score a double century in the same. He is currently captaining the Nagaland State team and was recently awarded both the Best Batsman and Best Player from Northeast for the 2024-2025 season.
