Very sad to see this awful practice of digital erasure carry over into the 4K era. Not surprising, but disappointing nonetheless.
It makes no sense considering they tout the fact that they left piano wires untouched, but go back and erase anything more than that. Just leave everything as is, it's that simple.
@anon54980 Hit the character limit but, I also wanted to add editor Yoshihiro Yanagawa. All of whom were some of Jissoji's regular collaborators on various projects.
@anon54980 I understand Jissoji is an amazing filmmaker and all, but he didn't do all this on his own. Let's not forget Special Effects Director Jun Ooki and SFX cameraman Kiyoshi Suzuki for their work on these fantastic compositions. As well as Optical Photographer Minoru Nakano.
It's such a relief that the Showa Gamera 4Ks all look great... Hopefully Kadokawa does the rest of them at some point, they can take all the time in the world if they all turn out like these first three.
It's actually crazy how badly these transfers mog all of Toho's stuff. Really wish I could rip these & post screens, but trust me, they actually look good lol.
