दक्षिण भारताची 'कोकिळा' म्हणून ओळखल्या जाणाऱ्या ज्येष्ठ पार्श्वगायिका एस. जानकी यांच्या निधनाचे वृत्त अत्यंत दुःखद आहे.

पाच दशकांहून अधिक काळ आपल्या मधुर, भावस्पर्शी आणि अष्टपैलू गायकीने त्यांनी भारतीय संगीतविश्व समृद्ध केले. तमिळ, तेलुगू, मल्याळम, कन्नड, हिंदीसह अनेक भारतीय भाषांमध्ये त्यांनी हजारो अजरामर गीते गाऊन रसिकांच्या हृदयात अढळ स्थान निर्माण केले.

चार वेळा राष्ट्रीय चित्रपट पुरस्कार, तसेच पद्मभूषण आणि विविध राज्य सरकारांचे सर्वोच्च सांस्कृतिक सन्मान यांसह अनेक प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कारांनी त्यांच्या असामान्य योगदानाचा गौरव करण्यात आला. त्यांचा स्वर हा भारतीय चित्रपटसंगीताच्या सुवर्णयुगाची अमूल्य ठेव आहे.

स्वरसम्राज्ञी एस. जानकी यांना भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली. ईश्वर त्यांच्या आत्म्यास सद्गती देवो. त्यांच्या कुटुंबीयांच्या आणि असंख्य चाहत्यांच्या दुःखात मी सहभागी आहे.

Directed by Satyen Bose and produced by Rajshri Productions, Dosti arrived at a time when lavish musicals and star-driven films dominated the box office. Yet this humble tale of two underprivileged friends—one visually impaired and the other physically disabled—won hearts through sincerity rather than spectacle. Their bond, built on trust, sacrifice, and hope, reminded audiences that true friendship asks for nothing in return.

The film also marked the debut of Sanjay Khan, while veterans like Nana Palsikar, Leela Mishra, and Farida Dadi enriched the story with memorable supporting performances. Every character felt real, adding warmth to a narrative that never lost sight of its emotional core.
