Absolutely delighted to have announced today that the sales of our history booklet, 'Women of Shrewsbury', mean we can make a donation of ยฃ675 (and counting) to help those using #DomesticAbuse refuge services in #Shropshire.
@ShrewsLabour
Thanks to @mariehannah_l of @theRCN, @CerysWay of @GMB_union, & @JBuckleyLabour for speaking at our meeting on Health Services & Inequalities today to mark #InternationalWomensDay.
Some upsetting facts about conditions for staff & patients, but some glimmers of hope too. #IWD2023
Important and interesting talk on working class women and the crisis in the health service requiring industrial action, marking #IWD2023 this morning.
Organised by @SY1Womensforum/@ShrewsLabour, with poignant speeches from @CerysWay, @mariehannah_l and @JBuckleyLabour. ๐นโ
BREAKING ๐จ | The average full-time nursery place is now almost ยฃ15,000 per year.
And 1 in 4 parents say the cost of childcare is now MORE THAN 75% of their take-home pay.
The Government must provide proper funding for childcare.
Far too often when women speak up about the abuse they've experienced, they are not heard. We need to be celebrating women and amplifying their voices 365 days a year not just on #InternationalWomensDay.
This bill will only increase the danger women & children face in accessing safety. Ahead of #InternationalWomensDay 2023, we are deeply concerned to see a bill that will threaten womenโs rights and human rights. (2/2)
Women and children fleeing war and persecution & seeking asylum are very often survivors of male violence - and as a charity representing survivors, we therefore strongly oppose the government's Illegal Migration Bill. (1/2)
Today, on International Women's Day, we celebrate women's achievements in Britain and across the world.
We know there is still so much more to do.
Labour is, and always will be, the party of equality.
#IWD2023
UNISON is the largest womenโs organisation in the U.K. and weโre leading the way in fighting for womenโs rights here and across the world. Happy #IWD2023@unisontheunion
Join us and @TrussellTrust in calling on the government to guarantee that the basic rate of #UniversalCredit will always cover essentials such as food and heating, and ensure no oneโs life is devastated by hardship. #OurEssentials https://t.co/W96obGGol3
From April, Universal Credit will be set at ยฃ85 a week for a single adult, but thereโs a significant gap between this and living costs. Our research shows that in order to cover the essentials, it must be increased to at least ยฃ120 a week. https://t.co/RsUwJcIP0P
If you're scared of your partner you can talk to one of our expert Helpline team using #BSL, 10am-6pm, Monday to Friday: https://t.co/34mkKDN66B Our live chat is also open 3pm-10pm, Monday to Friday. https://t.co/8yYpfKNqHZ
Too many people with autism or ADHD are left waiting years for an assessment - some tragically taking their own lives out of desperation.
The Government have a responsibility to ensure that people can access the support they so vitally need.
