#WATCH | Bihar: On the alleged police encounter of 28-year-old Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in Bhojpur district, Advocate Varsha Singh says, “As soon as I learned about the case, I made a video as a practising advocate to inform the public that there is no such thing as an encounter under Indian law. The police are only authorised to use firearms if their own lives are in imminent danger, or if there is absolutely no other way to apprehend a serious offender. However, none of those conditions was applicable in this instance…this is nothing less than murder…the Supreme Court has explicitly ruled that in any case of death resulting from an encounter, the registration of an FIR and an investigation by an independent agency are mandatory…while we welcome the Chief Minister’s direction for a judicial inquiry, it does not address or establish criminal accountability…I hope the court appoints the CBI so that an impartial investigation can ensue. We are currently here to obtain the consent of the family to legally move forward with the case…” (23.06)
India pacer Arshdeep Singh has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Arshdeep was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match.”
Apart from the fine, one demerit point was added to Arshdeep’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings, when Arshdeep fielded the ball and threw it aggressively towards batter Daryl Mitchell and ended up hitting his pads.
Madam Banerjee step down. Quit. Due to your failure & defiance against laws of the land & constitutional authorities, jihadi mobs got courage to hallabol & unleash unprovoked violence against innocent Hindus in Malda and Murshidabad. Now, nothing in your hand. Step down.
Requesting authorities to keep strong vigil and intensify patrolling in Malda & Murshidabad, especially Dhulian. Getting some concerning news from the area. Please take immediate action.
