With her Polaroid camera in hand and her sweet baby by her side, she waits for people to stop by and get a picture clicked.

But she hopes for more people to stop, not just for a photograph, but for a chance to keep doing what she loves and find more work.

They had already cut down this 100-year-old Peepal tree in Ahmedabad. But Bharat Sisodia still refused to let it be the end of its story.

In November 2022, Bharat and his team reached the spot after receiving a message about the tree being felled.

The tree had been cut to about 6–7 feet, but there was still a chance it could survive.
So they took that chance.

They dug a six-foot trench around the tree and used water to soften the soil around its roots. Then, with a 50-tonne crane, they carefully lifted and moved the massive tree nearly 2 km away.

At its new home, they prepared the pit with soil treatments and nutrients before replanting it. The team then continued caring for it as it recovered.

Today, the Peepal is reported to be growing again, with new growth emerging from the tree.

A reminder that sometimes, saving a tree can mean giving it a second home instead of giving up on it.

The Indian Express report has shaken up India, yet there is half the population that is unaware of the danger lurking on their heads, that can literally rob them of their fundamental right to vote and be considered as a valid legit citizen of India.
