LAST ONE! as @TheMonoBox is closing its doors, THIS MONDAY (on zoom) will be my final Structure(s) workshop, covering everything about the architecture of stories. please do pass it around because this is the LAST CHANCE to attend it!
@RodneyMarshall1 Rodney, thank you very much indeed, it is wonderful to read your message. That is what we all set out to do, in this tenderly written play. It makes all the difference in the world to know that your 88 year old mother was affected by it. Thank you both for coming. I’m so glad
@ShunaSnow We came to see The Swell not once but twice. Hard to put into words the profound effect it had on my 88 year old mother, who was moved by the entire experience: the poetry, the humour, the time-shifting angst. Hope you are all proud of this utterly brilliant production
Yikes.
Sometimes a piece of art comes along that is like a comforting arm around the shoulder, a hug, or a whispering reassurance of who you are. A piece of art you can see yourself reflected in.
This afternoon was one of those moments. A fiercely compassionate, gentle … ⬇️
…tender, unflinching yet subtle piece of work that encompasses everything: Friendship, honesty, self and that most important commodity of all - Love.
I connected on every level with this story. And I cannot thank everyone involved with this masterpiece enough for that. 👏🏻♥️
Everything about #TheSwell@IsleyLynn was perfect. Queer Joy running through its beautiful bones. Never have I seen our relationships portrayed on stage with such authenticity and poetry, no trauma or shame just love. #Queers#Lesbians go see. I will going back ❤️@OrangeTreeThtr
We had a q&a last night which raised a thought worth sharing: some have said The Swell isn’t ‘about’ being queer. I think what they mean is that often queer stories = queer trauma. The Swell is not that. It’s about queer love, which is joyful complex & universal. And no one dies!
