Kebbi School Abduction: State and Community Police Is the Solution to Nigeria's Internal Security Challenges

One of the saddest things about Nigeria is that when terrorists strike, we attack the government rather than the terrorists. The abduction of twenty-five girls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, and the killing of their vice principal is condemnable.

My condolences to the family of the departed and my heartfelt prayers to the parents of the missing girls.

The government should do everything possible to rescue the pupils and apprehend, then prosecute, the perpetrators of the murder and kidnapping.

But beyond identifying the problem and reacting to it, we must provide solutions.

Even though these abductions have significantly reduced from what occurred in the last administration, where 881 schoolchildren were abducted between May 29, 2015, and May 29, 2023, it is obvious that our military and security forces are overstretched. They are doing their best and should be encouraged.

However, a total of less than half a million soldiers and police officers for a population of 235 million and a landmass of almost a million square kilometres is inadequate. We need to deepen security.

The time for State and Community Police has come. We must make policing as local as possible. In light of our security challenges, one centrally controlled police force with a command structure in Abuja may no longer be sufficient to address Nigeria's security issues.

If the Kebbi State Government had its own police force, for example, there is a strong possibility that this incident would not have occurred.

Much progress has been made under the Tinubu administration. However, to drastically improve security in Nigeria, I urge the President to take the initiative and push for the establishment of State Police. He can achieve it. He has the political skill and will to instil this. Now is the time.

Mr President, you have already increased federal allocation to states by at least 100%. They are now in a position to afford it. Let them pull their weight. Sir, please give Nigeria State and Community Police.

Not only will such an attitude capture the attention of management and lead to your promotion, but the end result is that you will have learned enough to start your own business. That is your end game. To be your own boss, even if you have to take a temporary loss.

On page 213 of his book, Not My Will, President Olusegun Obasanjo revealed that by 1978, Nigeria, through its imports from Britain, was responsible for keeping half a million Britons at work. Think about this for a while.

If, as at 1978, when Nigeria's population was 69 million, our imports from the United Kingdom were responsible for creating half a million jobs in that nation, what would the tally of British jobs we are creating be now that our population is more than thrice that at 230 million?

Whenever you buy a foreign product or service, especially one that can be manufactured or procured locally, you are exporting jobs out of Nigeria and importing poverty.

I therefore call on all Nigerians to support the Nigeria First policy of the Tinubu administration, and I especially call on Peter Obi, as the largest individual importer of foreign goods in Nigeria, to join this trend. Let us put politics aside and bring nationalism and patriotism in.

As some of you know, I recently toured the Dangote Refinery. I saw the massive investments that one man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has made to support the Nigerian economy.

I also visited with Dr Mike Adenuga and experienced firsthand the extent to which he invested his own money to ensure that Nigeria has a homegrown telecommunications network with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

However, every time you buy imported petrol or use MTN, Airtel, or any other foreign telecom company, not only are you driving down the value of the Naira by sending your money out of Nigeria to the countries of origin of these foreign goods and services, but you are also exporting jobs to those countries. Jobs that can be done by a Nigerian in Nigeria.

If we want the Naira to strengthen, we must change our consumption behaviour and bring it in line with President Tinubu's Nigeria First policy, and here are some consumption habits we can change:

Akamu for breakfast instead of imported custard 
Beans for lunch rather than foreign rice 
Cornflakes from Nasco, not Kellogg's 
Dangote spaghetti, not Italian pasta 
Eggs from Obasanjo farms, not from abroad 
Fan yoghurt, not imported yoghurt 
Glo instead of foreign telcos 
Honey from Ore, not from Shoprite 
Innoson, not Honda or Toyota 
Juice from Chivita, not America 
Kpomo in your soup, not foreign fish 
Lace from Kaduba, not from Switzerland 
Mango from Adamawa, over imported apples 
Noodles from Dangote, not Indonesia 
Oranges from Benue, rather than Israel 
Purses from Onitsha, not France 
Quail from Kebbi, not from England 
Radio Nigeria, over Radio France Internationale
Shoes and slippers from Kano and Aba, not Italy and Spain 
Tea from Mambilla Plateau, not China 
Umbrella from Abakaliki, over those from India 
Trucks/vans from ANAMMCO rather than Asia

12 Things I Learned From Hanging Out With Dollar Billionaires

I have met three of the wealthiest men in Nigeria and Africa, who are all dollar billionaires, and one common thread I found in each of them is simplicity. In dressing, speech and action. I also learned the following things from them:

Gain control over your money in your youth, or the lack of money will make others gain control over you in your old age.

How you spend your time affects your net worth more than how you spend your money.

If you have money but no control over your time, you are merely rich. Only when you have both money and control over your time are you truly wealthy.

If you want to make a million dollars, you must stop giving a million excuses.

If you are unwilling to invest in yourself, investors will also be reluctant to invest in you.

Money cannot buy happiness. But it can pay for experiences that produce happiness.

Real wealth is not loud. It is subtle. Billionaire money is often quiet. If anything, it is their intellect that is loud.

The rich are fixated on buying luxuries, while the wealthy are focused on building their legacies.

Riches do not come because you make wishes. Wealth only results from making plans and implementing them.

The truly wealthy don't dress to impress or according to how they want to be addressed. They dress as the situation warrants.

Presidents of the United States have only visited Nigeria three times: Jimmy Carter in 1978, Bill Clinton in 2000, and George W. Bush in 2003. And each time they visited, the person leading Nigeria was Olusegun Obasanjo.

No matter what you may say about him, he is one of Nigeria's most significant leaders.

He defeated the rebel Republic of Biafra on Thursday, January 15, 1970 and achieved the remarkable feat of capturing their leaders and bringing them to Lagos to declare unconditional surrender.

This is significant as records have now emerged showing that British Prime Minister Harold Wilson had decided that if Biafra were not militarily defeated by Nigeria in 1970, Britain would intervene with a two-state solution.

In essence, Obasanjo saved Nigeria!

Additionally, he was the first Nigerian leader to have a natural term. Balewa was killed, Ironsi was murdered, Gowon was overthrown, and Murtala was assassinated.

He was also the first military ruler in Africa to hand over power to civilians voluntarily.

And he is the most self-documented Nigerian leader, having written at least eleven books that I am aware of, and possibly others that I am not conscious of.

What many Nigerians do not know, and which General Babangida confirmed in his book, A Journey in Service, is that the rank and file of the military did not want General Obasanjo to hand over power. But he did in 1979.

And until he returned twenty years later in 1999, no Nigerian leader had a natural term in office.

Shagari was overthrown, as was Buhari. Babangida was forced to step aside. Shonekan was shoved aside, and Abacha died under still unclear circumstances. And Abdulsalami only spent less than a year before handing over.

Why do I give this account?

As a country, we often wait for our heroes to die before honouring them.

This man ended the Liberian Civil War, restored a democratically elected Fradique de Menezes to power after he was overthrown in 2003, funded the South African liberation movement, ensured that the MPLA became the democratically elected government of Angola as opposed to the Western backed UNITA, aided FRELIMO in their war of independence in Mozambique, nationalised African Petroleum, implemented the Indigenisation Decree that Gowon passed but did not implement, paid off Nigeria's entire debt, made GSM phones and the Internet available to the ordinary person in Nigeris for the first time, hosted the only Commonwealth Heads of Government summit in Nigeria, tactfully diffused the Sharia crisis that could have devastated Nigeria, set up the EFCC and have Nigrria her first systematic anti corruption war.

Mandela did a lot for South Africa, but I am not sure that he did as much for Africa as General and later President Obasanjo did.

A man I greatly admire and whose books I have voraciously read multiple times.

Even if nobody says thank you to you, my house and I appreciate you, Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo, a great son of Nigeria and Africa. An Omoluabi atata!

Ten More Economic Miracles President Tinubu Has Achieved For Nigeria

Our foreign reserves just hit $42.8 billion, a five-year high.

The Naira has appreciated to ₦1455 per $1.

Our GDP is growing at a rate of 4.23%.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has delisted Nigeria from its Grey List,

Nigeria is no longer the leading fuel importer in Africa (South Africa has replaced us) and is now the top fuel exporter in West Africa.

Food prices have decreased significantly, resulting in a drop in inflation to 20.12%, a 1.76% decrease from July's 21.88%.

Nigeria's trade surplus rose 44.3% in Q2 to ₦7.46 trillion, up from ₦5.17 trillion in Q1.

Nigeria's debt has reduced by over $14 billion from the $113.7 billion, which President Tinubu inherited from General Buhari on May 29, 2023, to $97 billion today.

For the second month in a row, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed over ₦2 trillion, distributing ₦ 225 trillion as federation revenue for August 2025, the highest distributable revenue ever in Nigeria.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects a 3.9% annual GDP growth rate for Nigeria in 2025 and 4.2% in 2026.

Fellow Nigerians, the national economy is improving, and your regional economies are also growing, especially as the President has ensured that all regions have a development commission.

The President has done his bit, now focus on your Governors and Local Government Chairmen, and ask them to justify the increased Federal Allocation they are getting under the Tinubu administration.

When you have gathered enough money to buy an iPhone 17, use the funds instead to invest in the company that makes the iPhone brand. In April, Apple stock was $170. Please fact-check me. Today, six months later, it is almost $300. Don't buy the Apple. Buy the Apple tree. That way, you will eat apples every year, while the tree keeps getting bigger and the fruit juicier. Treat money like a hen. Never eat your hen. Wait for it to lay eggs. When it does, eat 1 or 2 eggs. Let the remaining eggs hatch into chicks and mature. Keep some. Eat some. Sell some. Repeat the process, and you will have both eggs and hens to eat!

How Dangote and Lagos Killed Peter Obi's Argument Of 'Give Us A Port And We Will Be Rich Like Lagos'

Yesterday, Friday, October 24, 2025, Peter Obi released a social media post complaining that the Federal Government was concentrating its infrastructural investments in Lagos, and blamed this for the poverty experienced by certain other states.

Amongst other things, Peter Obi said:

"Nigeria’s infrastructure investment remains excessively concentrated in Lagos, often at the expense of other strategic ports such as Warri, Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Onne.."

Mr. Obi's argument that the reason some states are not as prosperous as Lagos State is because the Federal Government did not give those states a port like they did to Lagos, or that where there is a port, they are not well funded, is now as dead as a Dodo, because it is a fallacy.

And why is it fallacious? Well, for two reasons.

The first is that the Federal Government does not own the largest port in Lagos. The Lagos State Government, through the Lekki Worldwide Investments Limited, and its private sector partners, built the Lekki Deep Sea Port.

Additionally, the Federal Government spends more money maintaining ports outside Lagos than in Lagos State.

For example, in 2025, according to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, most of their capital budget of ₦778.46 billion will be allocated to three ports: Calabar, Warri, and Burutu Ports.

And then, the second reason the argument is dead on arrival is due to Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

I have recently returned from touring the Dangote Refinery and spending quality time with Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

One of the things that struck me is that Alhaji Dangote, a private individual, is in the process of building his own private deep-sea port, which, upon completion, will be the largest deep-sea port in Nigeria.

Now, please do not get it wrong; the fact that Alhaji Dangote is in the process of building what would be Nigeria's largest deep-sea port when finished is commendable. However, Dangote has already completed his own private port terminal, where, daily, multiple ships load fertiliser and petrochemicals destined for Europe, America, and Asia.

Yes. You read me right. He has already built a private port terminal. I was there. I shot a video there, where a ship was loading cargo bound for Houston, Texas. It is still on all my social media profiles.

The Dangote Refinery’s Single Point Mooring system port has a present capacity to handle 600 ships annually.

The Dangote deep-sea port will be in addition to this smaller port.

Now, ask yourself this question: If Lagos State can build its own port and free trade zone without the financial backing of the Federal Government, and Aliko Dangote, a private individual is building a deep sea port, again without the Federal Government, and Ondo State is also in advanced stages of building its own deep sea port (of which Akwa-Ibom is also making progress with the Ibom Deep Sea Port), then on what basis do you still blame Nigeria or the Federal Government for the backwardness of your state?

Bear in mind that Cross River State also plans to build the $2 billion Bakassi Deep Seaport, independent of the Federal Government.

Your state is backward, not because of the Federal Government, but because of bad leadership.

For example, consider Anambra State under Peter Obi. Peter Obi had enough state funds to build a beer brewery for Anambra. He also had funds to buy 400 vehicles for Anambra Igwes (I never knew Anambra had that many Igwes!).

Peter Obi also deposited hundreds of millions of dollars of Anambra State Government funds in a bank where he had personal interests, meaning he benefited from the deposit.

Yet, he had no money to build either a port for Anambra or a nursery, primary, or secondary school, or a university.

That bad leadership is why states like Anambra are behind states like Lagos. It has little to do with port!

Think twice before you adorn your homes with or in any way associate yourself with the image of a blond, blue-eyed Jesus. First of all, the letter J was invented by Gian Giorgio Trissino in 1524. That should even teach you that Jesus was not His name. His Earthly name was Yeshua. And the Jewish Rabbi named Yeshua never allowed His image to be captured.

He was of Hebraic origin at a time when the vast majority of His people had not dispersed to Europe, meaning that He had olive skin.

There is no need to have His Image in your head, body or buildings, because that was just a form in which He came to the world. That is why He told God to receive His 'Spirit' in Luke 23:46:

"Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

The risk of accepting and propagating that image, which was sold to your ancestors who knew no better, in your head is that if that image that you have of your saviour does not look like you, you may begin to see yourself as inferior, and perceive those who look like that image as superior.

That is why, if you historically think back to colonialism, colonisers often first came with priests and clergy of their own denominations or faiths, propagating the image of the Saviour as someone who looked like them. This usually occurred before they put the boots of their troops on the ground that actually did the military conquest leading to colonialism.

They were buttering up your ancestors!

You are hardly likely to want to fight someone who looks like your Saviour. You are more likely to worship them or at least venerate such persons.

Today, we know that such a thing is a military strategy known as psychological warfare.

When you have the false image of Yeshua in your head, body, building, or car, what you are essentially doing is waging psychological war against your own mind.

That is why Jeremiah lamented, "My eye affects my soul" (Lamentations 3:51).

What you see affects your psyche.

Images existed for millennia before Yeshua (Jesus) was born. The oldest statue depicting a recognisable figure is the Löwenmensch Lion Man statue, which is estimated to be approximately 40,000 years old.

We have statues from that era carrying a replica of the image of the Roman Emperor, Tiberius, who ruled during the earthly lifetime of Yeshua.

If Yeshua wanted us to have an image of Him, He would have ensured that we had one. That He did not should teach you that He wanted us to focus on His message, not His image.

When cement is wet, it is malleable. You can shape it into whatever you like. But once it hardens, it becomes stiff. At that point, you can't change its shape. Your money is your wet cement. Shape it well now by investing it, and it will put you in good financial shape in the future. However, once you spend it rather than invest it, money immediately hardens and its life cycle ends. At that point, it will be too late to shape it. The only thing you can expect when you spend and don't invest is for poverty to shape and shake you in your old age!
