NEW: California doctor drove his Tesla with his family inside off a 250 foot cliff because he thought his kids would be s*x trafficked.

Dharmesh Patel had a psychotic episode causing him to launch his car off a cliff according to new expert witnesses.

Patel was driving on the Pacific Coast Highway when he suddenly whipped the car off the road.

Miraculously, he, his wife and his two children, 4 and 7 survived.

Psychologist Dr. Mark Patterson said Patel suffered from psychosis which peaked before the incident.

He said Patel heard footsteps following him.

Patel’s wife initially told investigators that he was depressed and that he wanted to drive his car off the cliff.

Patel is seeking mental health diversion
which would release him from jail and put him on a treatment plan for two years.

Assuming he doesn’t commit any other crimes, the charges would be dropped.
