I rarely post on here anymore, but I have to say to @PeterTatchell:
It shouldn't take the news that an elderly woman was murdered rather than dying of natural causes to change a post from revelry & name-calling to 'R.I.P. Ann.'
The sheer hypocrisy of that cannot be lost on any person of good character.
This is why so many people - gay, straight and anywhere in between - find your rhetoric misogynist, divisive & hateful. People are allowed hold different opinions. We can disagree with them, we can even judge them, but every life is of value and we all leave loved ones behind.
A little bit of kindness, compassion and, quite honestly, basic human decency can go a long way.
👀 Tom Sykes:
‘Charles’s first duty is not to the spare. It is to the heir, who just happens to be keeping the whole show on the road. That is the deal his mother understood in her bones and honoured for seventy years: the institution comes first, the succession comes first, sentiment comes a distant second. Elizabeth II handed her son a functioning monarchy on that principle. He is spending down the inheritance to buy an afternoon with his grandchildren.’
2) Tom Sykes:
‘And there is one more casualty: Invictus. Harry was in Britain, notionally, for the one-year-to-go event for the Birmingham 2027 Games, a cause that represents the best thing he has ever done. That event has now been completely eclipsed. Nobody is talking about wounded veterans this weekend. They are talking about the domestic soap opera. This is the standing danger of Harry as patron: the soap bubble swallows everything it touches, including the causes that deserve better. Birmingham’s organisers, already dealing with departed sponsors, unfilled jobs and a broke host city, have just watched their showcase moment reduced to a footnote in someone else’s family drama.’ Sad for the veterans who deserve better. @JJChalmersRM
Maybe they’ve decided to belatedly seek legal advice. Unless they’re even more reckless and arrogant than Stonewall, they must surely have anticipated that the organisations they targeted would do so.
Really sad news about Ann Widdecombe. Horrible to think about what she went through.
To clarify something we said on the programme tonight…
Ann was due to appear on 5 Daytime on Wednesday afternoon but stopped responding to messages and didn't turn up for the show.
The team contacted her agent to ask them to check in on her.
This information has been passed to police as it's part of the investigation.
A comforting interview with Ann Widdecombe on the subject of death:
"Does death frighten you?"
Ann: "No, I'll go to heaven and be with my mother, my father and my brother."
That's exactly where she is. 🕊️
I've seen a lot of awful things written about Ann Widdecombe today.
People aren't deleting them, even though it's becoming apparent that she was murdered.
I think maybe, just maybe, a load of people need to go and take a very good long look in the mirror.
Adam Boulton currently ranting about Ann Widdecombe being a “spinster” and an “old maid” on @skynews while awaiting a police statement on a potential murder investigation… Just blatant petty misogyny, but it’s deemed “OK” because Widdecombe was a socially conservative Catholic.
Thank you Ann Widdecombe and shame on the leftists deriding you today.
At the lowest moment in my life, you were there for me in a way so few others were.
Did you give a damn I was gay? Of course not!
To report your murder today has been one of the saddest moments of my life.
@RoworthJack On the day Ann Widdecombe was murdered, with Jenrick in mourning, you choose to aggressively doorstop him again?!
This is disgusting, Jack.
Those discussing Ann Widdecombe on the news keep referring to her "divisive views".
They say little about her being one of the ONLY MPs untainted by the expenses scandal, how she helped her nephew defeat drug addiction + her concern for animal welfare & persecuted Christians.
Adam Boulton is a pig in appearance and attitude.
Ann Widdecombe was marvellous.
More despicable content from the awful @SkyNews
