Welcome again to another bonus point + DEFCON roundup after last night’s OPTA update:
👉🏻Nico O’Reilly failed to hit DEFCON and also stays on 2 bonus points.
Cherki was deemed to have been dispossessed one additional time (-1bps) so the chance was there for O’Reilly!
O’Reilly was agonisingly close to closing the deficit. He was 1 successful pass away from gaining (+2bps) and tying with Cherki for 3 bonus.
Haaland’s bonus tally was so low, despite scoring the winning goal. This is due to a vast number of negative bps actions!
2 big chances missed (-6bps) and a yellow card (-3bps) the main factors!
OPTA did find a whopping 14 extra DEFCONs across the board in this game! (Surely a record total)
👉🏻Saliba and Zubimendi the main beneficiaries - both gaining DEFCON, whilst Rice and Rodri finish 1 away.
👉🏻Morgan Rogers will gain a bonus point after the update!
Rogers moved up to the 80% pass threshold (+2bps), tying with Le Fee for two bonus.
Incidentally Rogers finished the game on 31 pass attempts (the threshold to be eligible for passing bps is 30+ passes)…
So if he simply made two fewer passes, he would be out of the bonus completely!
👉🏻Beto will gain a bonus point and join Mo Salah on 3 bonus.
It was Salah in fact that reduced his bps. OPTA deemed him to have been dispossessed one further time (-1bps), tying him with Beto (on 31bps).
In fact, all of Mo Salah’s negative bps actions came from losing possession. He was tackled a whopping EIGHT times (-8bps).
Van Dijk also came very close to hitting the bonus. He gained 1 valuable clearance (+1bps) leaving him just one short of KDH. The single foul he made (-1bps) was therefore a costly one!
👉🏻KDH failed to hit DEFCON in the update.
👉🏻Elliot Anderson also failed to gain 1 more DC needed to hit DEFCON.
👉🏻Finally, we had no bonus point changes in the Forest game.
Sorry to all the fellow O’Reilly owners for an underwhelming update, but hopefully shares some further insights at least!
The way the schedule falls means any late OPTA updates will affect the Brighton vs Chelsea game on Tuesday, but not the two other games on Wednesday.
Thanks for reading the whole way through and I appreciate the fantastic support on these posts! 😀
