Biophysicist in Pharmacy ๐
PhD Candidate ๐จโ๐ฌ at the @UniGraz ๐ฆ๐น in @LGrillGroup and pharmaceutical technology ๐
What is happening?๐
The @NatureNano paper from @OxfordChemistry says that microparticles in water can aggregate if they are negatively charged. Normally, electrostatic repulsion helps stabilize a colloidal suspension ๐งช
Should consider this when developing nanoscale drug delivery systems? ๐ค
Did you know that you can study uptake and efficacy with #cellmechanics? Read about it in our new review paper in @MDPIpharma. Thanks a lot to my co-authors and @LGrillGroup (@UniGraz) ๐
Do you think that this will become an industry standard or are there better methods? ๐ค
Do you use #cellmechanics in pharmaceutics? This
@UniGraz team writes how to use #AFM to track stiffness and rheology of cells upon drug treatment including interpretations for uptake, toxicity, and efficacy๐งซ

@LGrillGroup @SiboniHenrik
My colleague David presented a paper from @CEITEC_Brno where he was for his bachelor ๐
They have a very wide selection of equpiment including combined Raman and atomic force microscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, magnetic resonance imaging, and electroencephalography ๐ฌ
Fun hosting journal club ๐ฅง
Kinesin uses 1 ATP/step as fuel to transport cargo along microtubuli ๐
@StefanHellLabs investigated when ATP is bound ๐ข๏ธ
@TakahiroDeguch1 observed kinesin blocked in its path and jumping microtubuli ๐ฃ๏ธ
Question from the club: How does it jump? ๐ค
The audience played along at the Styrian Science Slam 2023๐ฌ
Big thanks to all participants, the audience, fellow performers โค๏ธ and of course the organizer Bernhard! ๐ช
I highly recommend it to other scientists! ๐คนโโ๏ธ

Does corrosion affect the environmental safety of pipelines? ๐ค #fridayAFM
Find out in this study from Lhiam Paton in the group of Jรถrg Feldmann at @UniGraz where I measured the surface roughness and area ๐จโ๐ฌ
Thanks for a nice collaboration ๐

@HCorteLeo Hm, actually not ๐ค But marcipan candy is much harder and probably close to equilibrium with the moisture in the air. If you let your leaf dry for a day, I think that you would see less drift ๐
@HCorteLeo Thanks ๐ No surface preparation, I wanted to look at the untouched surface fresh from the bag ๐ฌ The roughness is generally too large, but you can find smaller areas that are flat enough to measure ๐
