19th May 1950 saw the opening night of the song and dance show Touch and Go at The Prince of Wales Theatre. That means 76 years ago to the day, Sidney James performed alongside his future wife, Valerie Ashton, for the first time.

Nothing says Bank Holiday like a Sid film on the television! The Titfield Thunderbolt will be on BBC Two on Monday at 9am with Sid James playing the role of Hawkins.

Barriers simply melt away as we share our memories of Dad’s work. It’s as if he smiles and everyone smiles back. Reina named this phenomenon as ‘The Gift of Sid’. 2/3
