messi/ronaldo is entry level IQ test at this point. preferences aside, i know for a fact i’m more intelligent than anybody who believes ronaldo is the better footballer.
People are finding unique reasons to hate Argentina and Messi.
The most laughable reason is the Palestine angle.
Three WC finals in last four editions, champions once. Winners of last two editions of Copa America, and the winner of Finalissima in 2022.
Sour grapes, i say.
The GOAT debate has been surviving on nostalgia.
Maradona’s career ended after he tested positive for a banned stimulant, Pelé’s case rests on the World Cup because he spent almost his entire club career in Brazil, he was never tested across elite European club football.
Messi did it everywhere, against everyone, for two decades.
The obsession with Messi this World Cup has been something else.
Every Argentina match, people spend more time waiting for Messi to fail than actually watching the football.
If he scores, it’s “rigged.”
If he assists, it’s “lucky.”
If he wins, it’s “FIFA.”
If he loses, they celebrate like they won the trophy themselves.
At some point, it stops being football rivalry and starts looking like an unhealthy obsession.
You don’t have to like Messi.
All of a sudden its not a world cup rigged for Argentina and Messi. Its a fair world cup. I would never ever forgive these Ronaldo and seasonal fans for ruining this world cup. Petty to the core. Cant achieve anything wont let others enjoy either.
All these Ronaldo fans tagging me, I genuinely don’t understand. Can’t you people recognize shame even if it were written across your foreheads? Ronaldo has no World Cup, has never played in a World Cup final, and at 41 is well past his best. After losing, as has become his custom these days, he subtly suggested that his European Championship, which he did not score in the final by the way, was equivalent to a World Cup. Only after he lost, mind you. Is that really the man you expect me to lose sleep over? A 41 year-old man-child who believes football begins and ends with shouting “Siuuu” and showing off his six-pack? Come on. Messi completed football in 2022. He has a World Cup, two Golden Balls, and, truth be told, could easily have had a third yesterday had he not, uncharacteristically, had an off day. It changes nothing anyway. His place as the undisputed GOAT was settled long ago.
The world is at peace because it’s Rodri.
Rodri won the World Cup Golden Ball without a single goal or assist, and nobody seems to have a problem with it. If it had been Messi with those exact same stats—even if Argentina had won the World Cup—the entire internet would have been on fire. People would be screaming “robbery,” saying Mbappé deserved it, claiming FIFA was protecting Messi, and pushing the usual “FIFA’s favorite” narrative.
Now? Complete silence.
The double standards are unbelievable. Bloody hypocrites.
Hipocritas.
