UEFA Champions League: 70 years of history. Global #1 sport by every metric. Stadiums packing 40-80k fans weekly. Result: ~€2.47bn distributed to clubs this season.

NBA Europe: doesn’t exist yet. Launching in markets where basketball is a fringe sport (UK, Germany, Nordics barely register). Projected: ~$1bn/year in distributions, and that’s likely back-loaded, not flat.
And it’s not launching into an empty market. EuroLeague already exists, already has the fanbase, the clubs, the history. Best case for NBA Europe is splitting an already limited pie 50-50, not creating new demand out of thin air.

Someone’s math doesn’t add up. Either the projections are wildly optimistic, or they’re banking on something other than actual fan demand (soccer club owners as investors, sovereign wealth money, US broadcast leverage) to make the numbers work.
