A lot of people in my comments say, “I will never get married. It’s better to be in a live-in relationship.” I read these comments and sigh because the law in our country presents a serious problem.

In a live-in relationship, you face the risk of a false promise to marry or even a false rape case. On top of that, the laws are often skewed against men.

It’s unfortunate, but a woman in a live-in arrangement can go to court and claim, “We secretly married, but there are no photos or proof because he insisted there wouldn’t be any. I’m his legally wedded wife and I want maintenance.”

Even if there’s no concrete proof of the marriage, the court can still recognize the relationship as a marriage. They may then award maintenance to the woman, based on the assumption that the live-in relationship was similar to marriage.

So, what’s the solution? A live-in arrangement is definitely not it.

Pawan Modi, Father of Atul demanded action against Judge Rita Kaushik and the custody of the 4 year old son of Atul whose whereabouts is not known to anyone including the Police. They also lodged a missing complain at their local Police Station and also filed a Habeas corpus in the Supreme Court to trace the child.
