We're so excited to announce that SigmaOS Airis (alpha) is live today on @ProductHunt
It’s whole new way to browse the internet; a smart way!

It’s always a shame when a product that many love is just taken away from them.
The 4 years we built @SigmaOS, arc was truly the only competitor that could keep up and even push us at points in terms of delivering a fresh new browser experience that is more delightful and less ad-driven.
had a great time competing @nateparrott and @joshm
The past week i started working on SigmaOS from scratch, just as something I really wanted for myself. Fresh code, fresh stack, fresh everything.
And i want to release it to everyone in the next couple weeks
I’ll be doing my best to bring together the best of the two iconic browsers of the 2020 browser wars together in one harmonious experience. The best of both worlds, and it’ll be my love letter to two products that changed the experience of browsing.
Fresh product, fresh name!
And btw it’ll be fully open source!
so let me know what you’d like to see 🌐

over the weekend I wanted to set up my @t3dotcodes properly to fully move to it and try out Opus 5.5
so I decided to rewrite @SigmaOS fully from scratch and implement Chromium for it instead of WebKit
result -> spent ~8B tokens, made ~200k changes, and I have a fully working SigmaOS with Chromium now
it uses a lot more AppKit/Objective-C instead of heavy SwiftUI, fully supports chrome extensions out of the box, and it also fixed a bunch of performance issues with Chromium itself to make it snappy
I think @AnthropicAI finally released a model post Fable and Astra that can genuinely be a daily driver without needing to constantly reach for the highest model
also will probably release this very soon, and maybe even open source it so others can mod it how they like it
now you can set @OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search as a default search engine on @SigmaOS!
@sama excited to be the first browser to allow ChatGPT Search as a default option 🩵

Having my doubts with Arc and it's future. So exploring my options, very much liking the aproach @SigmaOS takes.. making it my default browser for now.
Not surprised that @arcinternet is discontinuing
They didn’t care about core members; they cared about the 1B users they didn’t have. Why? Ad money. When you’re overvalued, overhyped, and free, the only way to survive is ad money, and for that, you need 100M+ users for a browser
I just tried @SigmaOS on Mac. It's strange at first to get used to a new way of browsing the web, but once you get the hang of it, it's very enjoyable.
