Maarten Keulemans heeft zes jaar lang Marion Koopmans nagepraat, zonder zelf onderzoek te doen. Dit heeft niets te maken met journalistiek, laat staan met wetenschapsjournalistiek.

Dé vraag was destijds, zes jaar geleden, of dit nieuwe Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) spontaan van dier op mens was overgesprongen (zoönose) of uit een laboratorium afkomstig was. Mensen die een lablek een mogelijkheid vonden werden weggezet als complotdenkers en gecensureerd.

Afgelopen week vertelde een klokkenluider van de CIA dat de inlichtingendiensten vanaf het begin informatie die op een lablek als oorzaak van de pandemie wees, onder de pet hebben gehouden. En dat de censuur bij de diensten vandaan kwam.

Maarten Keulemans reageert vervolgens op deze opzienbarende onthulling met "Ik neem aan dat die CIA-klokkenluider ook kon uitleggen waarom dit dan een *ander* virus is dan sars? En hoe het mogelijk is dat sars-cov-2 niet gewoon uitbrak in een kroeg of restaurant, maar uitgerekend op de *exacte plek* waar coronagevoelige dieren werden verkocht?"
Maar daar gaat het helemaal niet om. Het brisante is juist dat de inlichtingendiensten wetenschappers onder druk hebben gezet om te zwijgen. Het schokkende is dat inlichtingendiensten de wetenschap hebben geïnfiltreerd en dus hebben beschadigd, want wetenschap hoort onafhankelijk te zijn.

De vragen die Maarten hier stelt maken op een mooie manier duidelijk hoe vooringenomen hij is. Dat Marion Koopmans er alle belang bij had en heeft is duidelijk. Als pandemieën ontstaan doordat er in een lab gemanipuleerd wordt aan virussen en die virussen vervolgens vrijkomen om mensen ziek te maken en te laten overlijden, bescherm je mensen als viroloog niet tegen pandemieën, maar ben je juist de oorzaak van de Coronapandemie. Maar dat Maarten Keulemans zo vooringenomen was en is, en zo vooringenomen blijft vasthouden aan 'van dier op mens' vind ik wel typerend voor het huidige nivo van de (wetenschaps)journalistiek.

Trump is losing the war BADLY. Far worse, he has destroyed any belief in the threat of the U.S. projection of military power. I wrote about this numerous times, warning that Trump risked exposing the U.S. military as a "paper tiger." That's exactly what has now happened.

Now, there is no longer any credibility to the threat of force from the U.S. military, against a nation the size of Iran or larger. That includes China and Russia, of course, both of which can barely contain their laughter at Trump's bumbling idiocy of destroying the west's energy supply while also destroying the credibility of the U.S. military and -- with it -- the only thing propping up the petrodollar.

Trump isn't just a catastrophe for his own term, he's a catastrophe spanning GENERATIONS of American foreign policy that built up the credibility of U.S. military might. All that has vanished in less than three weeks under the direction of a bumbling, delusional, egotistical madman who is utterly detached from reality.

This is the beginning of the end of the American empire. It will never recover from Trump's demented "excursions."
