While this particular overflow wasn't caused by so-called flushable wipes, we would be remiss if we didn't mention how damaging nonwoven wipes are to our sewers. See all the wipes and bags in this photo? Yeah. They damage our equipment. Not cool. Very gross. And costly, too.
It’s myth buster time 😲
Many wet wipes are labelled as ‘flushable’ because they disappear once flushed 🚽
But they’re not gone for good!
Wet wipes are made of plastic, and will block your pipes ⚠

With the increased use of wipes (“flushable”, wet, baby, anti-bacterial, disinfectant) and paper towels, we remind all residents to PLEASE put these items in the TRASH and DO NOT FLUSH them down the toilet!

Disposable wipes & paper towels w/ cleaning products on them shouldn't go in recycling or organics! They go in the trash! Both items hold chemicals, which can contaminate compost if placed in organics. Also, even though some wipes claim to be flushable, they shouldn't be flushed.
WHOA! Officials said clogs like this are the reason they ask customers not to flush baby wipes, flushable wipes, feminine products, shirts, rags, diapers and anything other than toilet paper down the toilet. 🚽

Save yourself an expensive plumbing headache:
- don't flush wet wipes
- avoid putting food scraps and cooking oils down the kitchen sink

Be careful with what you flush.
🚽 To avoid blocked pipes, never put wet wipes, cotton pads or kitchen roll down the toilet. They don't break down in the same way as toilet paper and can block sewers.
Only flush the 3 Ps - pee, poo and toilet paper.
The truth about wet wipes…
They belong in the bin - EVEN if they say ‘flushable.’ 🚮
Just a single wet wipe is enough to start a blockage in your sewer pipe and risks causing a flood.

TANGLED MESS: Our brave crews recently pulled these colossal, entangled wipes/rags out of our sewers 🕳 on the southwest side of #satx. Flush 🚽 only the 3 Ps: pee, 💩 & 🧻 #WipesClogPipes#txwater@JeffGSpursZone
Porn has given young people an unrealistic and unhealthy idea of how quickly a plumber will come to your house.
Don't flush so-called "flushable" wet wipes, because those can form bigger clogs over time and cause a major blockage in the sewer.
No but(t)s—just don't!
Don’t fall for it…
Avoid flushing any type of wet wipe – even so-called ‘flushable’ ones. They can clog up your plumbing faster than you can say blocked drain.

Toilet Truth: “Flushable” wipes aren't actually flushable! They don't dissolve in water like toilet paper. This can lead to clogs, damaged sewer systems, and costly repairs. Toss them in the trash instead. Info at https://t.co/w2gdLkqE6J
