To heal the lost child needs to:
- understand their role is to not have zero needs in relationships
- learn how to assert and express themselves
- understand they are not a burden
- set clear boundaries
- get to know who they actually are
As an adult the lost child might:
- struggle with communication (never learned proper socialization)
- be extremely conflict avoidant
- deny what they feel "I'm fine" (a pattern that kept them safe in childhood)
- stay small, invisible
Another healing my inner child moment- my husband being off from work, both of us going to the store to get Abels classroom snacks for Halloween and dropping them off at his school 😭💞
My inner child healed just a little more watching my husband give our oldest son money for the book fair at school knowing I was never able to get anything 🥺
We learned it was easier to “go along with” things even if they were hurtful or we didn’t want to do them.
Fawning also allows us to be liked— we seem easy, agreeable, & “low maintenance.”
Fawning is a trauma response where we people please to avoid conflict, abandonment, or rejection.
When we fawn, we are trying to stay safe.
Many of us grew up in unsafe or unpredictable homes where we had to appease others.
Daycares literally want you to provide everything(diapers, wipes, clothes, packed lunches, extras, etc)& label everything for your child while charging you one of your organs for your kid to just be there. Then people wonder why SAHPs are a thing & make living off one income possible
