Government appoints Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, currently serving as Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff with effect from the afternoon of 30 June 2026.

An Armoured Corps officer and alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Lt Gen Seth brings nearly four decades of distinguished military service, holding key command, staff and strategic appointments across diverse operational and institutional domains.

He will assume office upon the retirement of General Upendra Dwivedi on 30 June 2026.

550 NCC cadets of 1 Assam Battalion successfully completed the 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-42) at JNV Nalbari.

The camp focused on drill, weapon training, field craft, first aid, leadership development, disaster response, adventure training, and Army interaction. Cadets also participated in cultural and sports activities, embodying the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline.”

🚩 The first batch of 46 pilgrims for the #KailashMansarovarYatra2026 via the Nathu La route was flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi, by Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita.

Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of Sikkim, including representatives from Sikkim House and the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, were present on the occasion.

APROs Pooja Lama and Nisha Gurung facilitated and assisted the pilgrims during their medical check-up process. The yatris are scheduled to arrive in Gangtok on 15 June 2026.

India and Nepal have taken a major step towards strengthening digital financial connectivity with the launch of a peer-to-peer cross-border remittance mechanism. The newly operationalised system directly links India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Nepal’s National Payments Interface (NPI), enabling faster, seamless and secure money transfers between the two countries. The initiative is expected to benefit millions of people, deepen financial inclusion and further strengthen economic ties between India and Nepal.

BJP Sikkim marked the historic milestone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister by offering special prayers at Chorten Monastery, Deorali. Led by State President D.R. Thapa, party leaders and karyakartas lit 108 sacred diyas and prayed for the Prime Minister’s good health and longevity.
