It took one game against Burnley for Manchester United’s fans to agree that we need midfielders.

It also took one game against Manchester City for United fans to be brainwashed by new manager bounce forget that we have seen this cycle repeat itself all over and over again.

A cycle of sack the manager, employ an interim, then get the dopamine bounce and honey moon period of an interim manager winning his first game and then we forget that; this is a movie we have watched several times and we all know how it ends.

If we are in Europe next season (UCL the target), this is what the window I mentioned + bringing back both Welbeck and Garner on free deals looks like under Amorim.

Lots of versatile dept. Plenty of iterations to this team. Multiple CM partnerships, or WB pairings, and depth to get us through midweek matches. Obviously, there is only so much space I can use here for depth chart purposes.

Some notes on specific players / roles-
- Amass and Vitek have been quality on loan and I think are ready to make an impact next year especially if we have European comps and all the extra matches.
- Dorgu is backed massively by the staff. (Nuno Mendes 2.0 talk). I am unsure if they will sign another dedicated LWB for that reason.
- Academy is in addition to this squad. Players like Lacey, Gabriel, Mantato, Kone, Leon, Moorhouse, Fitzgerald, Fletcher, Harrison, etc provide great depth or can get useful loans to further develop into the sr. game
- I wouldn't play Amad + Semenyo as the 2 WB in the same match together frequently, just showing them here as first choice WBs in general. I've explained. before, think more winger than FB here when they are playing.
- Listed as depth =/= non starter. It's a depth lineup and I couldn't list everyone due to space. Rotation will be essential.
- Maguire may extend and I'm fine with it
- Jacquet is someone I would really see if possible this summer as well as a young versatile CB, especially if Maguire did go.
- Guehi, Upacameno both free alternatives to Nico and would allow more budget spread, but I think Nico is a top option to prioritize.

Wouldn't be cheap, but this a squad that looks like it could compete with nearly anyone to me.

If possible, I'd consider selling Dalot to help fund a dual sided FB/WB type like Cambiaso or Livramento (less possible). If Maguire doesn't extend, I'd add Jacquet to the list.

Semenyo is a quality versatile player to add in to either WB, either IF, or the ST roles. He would get lots of minutes across the board. European comps would take a toll and rotation is absolutely needed as well as injury cover.

WB depth I still have questions about, but otherwise, I really like this squad. Quality and depth across the board. Lots of tactical options and variety.
