Following my conversation with Shri @SangmaConrad after the unfortunate incidents in Shillong, representatives of both States, led by Hon’ble Minister Shri @ATULBORA2 and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri @sniawbhadhar, met today in Guwahati.
I welcome the outcome of the meeting. The concerns and sentiments of the people of Assam have been duly acknowledged and addressed.
The constitution of a Special Investigation Team by the Meghalaya Government, along with the arrest of those responsible, are steps in the right direction.
Equally reassuring are the firm commitments made for the safety and unhindered movement of people and vehicles from Assam.
Assam and Meghalaya share a border, a history, and an enduring bond of sisterhood.
I am confident that today’s understanding, backed by firm commitments on the ground, will restore normalcy at the earliest and further strengthen the close ties between our people.
Congratulations to Dominic Megam Sangma on winning Best Feature Film in Garo for "Rimdogittanga (Rapture)" at the 71st National Film Awards!
Dominic has consistently captivated us with his powerful storytelling, rooted deeply in the richness of our tribal heritage and way of life. This latest recognition is a testament to his unique voice and vision.
A heartfelt congratulations to him and his entire team on this well-earned and well-deserved success!
Today, we honour the legacy of Captain Williamson Ampang Sangma on his 34th death anniversary, recognizing his pivotal role as the first Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the first tribal Governor of the North East, who championed the Hill State Movement to achieve statehood.
Along with our supportive friends of Gambegre Constituency, our candidate Dr. Mehtab Chandee Sangma filed for nomination in Tura today. The cheers are louder today- vote for Chandee, vote for NPP!
With profound sorrow, I learned of the passing of Brother Eric Steve D'Souza, an exceptional educator renowned for his dedication to education and compassion. As an esteemed member of the Christian Brothers congregation, Brother D'Souza spent many years serving at St. Edmund's School in Shillong, leaving an indelible legacy. As a devoted Christian Brother, his pioneering spirit founded Providence School, a beacon of hope for underprivileged children. May Brother D'Souza's inspiring legacy bring comfort to his family, the Christian Brothers congregation, and the countless lives he transformed through education and compassion. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Had discussion with India - Bhutan Foundation led by Maj. Gen. V. Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to India and Mr. Sudhakar Dalela, Ambassador of India to Bhutan and their team to boost bilateral ties on trade, cultural and tourism.
