I’m really happy that Crayola and industry partners teamed up to create Colors of the World. It’s vital for kids to feel included at a young age, even through their childhood art pieces. #rgcmtalkback22
It’s essential for films/tv shows to have a diverse cast team and a diverse behind the scenes team. After watching In The Heights, and thinking back on my memory from seeing Hamilton, I think both films exemplify progression in this area. #rgcmtalkback22#linmanuelmiranda
@JovanyxOfficial@wolfe_jazz I wonder what actors and actresses of color think about this. I mean, is the money they make just too good to challenge the director/writer to take a different take on the people they are portraying? #rgcmtalkback22
I thought I saw a decent amount of POC representation on screen during my middle & high school years. However, going through the past 2 chapters, it’s made me reflect back on how much representation was actually missing on tv and in films #rgcmtalkback22
@laurenfix22 They can be. People can be oblivious, unfocused, or entranced, all leading to some sort of decision being made based on the advertisements they see daily. I try to hit the “x” on advertisements as much as possible because of how annoying I find them. #rgcmtalkback22
@alexadiegoh I hope for this as well! With a society growing in numbers and diversity, in accordance with how much entertainment is consumed, there should be more representation on our screens—-both the television screens as well as the ones in the theatre #rgcmtalkback22
While it's great that the portrayal of Japanese Americans in American film and television improved in the 1960s, it's sad to say the socioeconomic reasoning behind this makes sense. #rgcmtalkback22
@wolfe_jazz However, I hope that in 10 years from now, people will be better educated about where the food they are eating comes from so they refrain from spreading misinformation that ult. leads to stereotypes and so they can lessen their generalizations of AHANA foods (2/2) #rgcmtalkback22
@wolfe_jazz I have not really thought about how the cuisine and culture relationship will change in the future. Based on current cultural appropriations, I fear the cuisine and culture relationship can develop unnecessary debates (1/2) #rgcmtalkback22
Ch. 8 said some 1960s shows based in rural settings were doing pretty well, yet bcz the ppl watching were on the lower income side, the sitcoms came to an end. Why though? I’m sure the production was making $, so where is the rationale here? #rgcmtalkback22
@TaylorJ39240416 I really hope those who seek a great life in the US can find greatness in the simplest things, or else they won’t be happy for long here. I also hope the term “American Dream” ceases to be a dream, or at least for its definition to be redefined with more truth #rgcmtalkback22

@KyleJohnson_22 I agree! As the speaker said in this week’s Ted Talk video, journalists need to go out and find the truth. However, as she also mentioned, we need to get to know Native Americans to cover that community well. This should be done for all underrepresented groups. #rgcmtalkback22
If I hadn’t seen the Ted Talk video this week, I would’ve never known about the Chickasaw Nation being chocolatiers. I found it very handy that NAJA has a style guide for journalists to use, but I think this guidebook would benefit everyone in our country. #rgcmtalkback22
@wolfe_jazz I’d like to think that we have been better about incorporating views from the people affected. I think one of the reasons journalists talk to people in power first is due them wanting to satisfy the people in a higher position within the newsroom #rgcmtalkback22
You’d think that because journalism plays a critical role in our democracy, that it would have established such guidelines prior to the 1947 the Hutchins Report and not act such former WSP editor Ben Bagdikian #rgcmtalkback22
