From the archives of the Société des Missions Etrangères de Paris, here is Nagasaki in 1879. This was only 8 years after freedom of religion had been reestablished in Japan. You can see a church (presumably Ōura Cathedral) in the background.
What an inspiring, edifying and moving film!
The SSPX have long deserved such an incredible portrayal of their work.
Providential. Can’t wait for part 2! -

Last Thursday, Roman Catholics celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi. This Chinese catechetical poster demonstrates some of the Church's teachings on the Eucharist.
Corpus Christi Procession in St. Peter's Square with Pope Pius XII, in the Holy Year of 1950. Also in procession is the Corporal of Bolsena, which contains the blood of a Consecrated Host, which bled when a priest doubted the doctrine of Transubstantiation in 1263.
Death to irony. Death to insincerity.
Death to shallowness, tepidity and the lukewarm. Choose to be childlike and bold with a simple and pure love. Therein the simplicity lies an ineffable mystery. Therein the pure love lies joy. And they are one and the same.
