The RFL today pays tribute to John Kear, who died suddenly on Sunday afternoon returning north from Wembley, having been part of the BBC’s commentary team for the Challenge Cup Finals
Our thoughts and condolences are with John’s wife Dawn, his family and friends
The Challenge Cup crowd was 56,383. That is the lowest Wembley figure for a game between two English teams (excluding the Covid impacted ones) since 1946. 80 years ago.

@Steviewire Maybe, but McLean made his debut at 18, became a New Zealand international last year, and killed it in State of Origin. We’ll always be a feeder system to an outstanding competition with the structure and governance of the NRL. I need to get used to it and stop comparing 😪🙏
Don’t understand why anyone would say it’s not. It’s a shoulder charge, dipped into contact and whether it’s head or shoulder that is direct contact, Ponga has a responsibility to not endanger an opponent. It’s a red card the way RL is these days IMO whether you agree or not
Such a massive disappointment to see Giants like this. The days of Brough, Brown, Jerry, Cudjoe etc, a tough pack, a well drilled team to this. They aren’t bringing anything to SL currently.
