North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) F-16s intercepted a general aviation aircraft that was violating the temporary flight restriction (TFR) in place for President Donald J. Trump's visit to Geneva, Ohio, Tuesday evening, prompting the fighters to deploy flares that may have been visible from the ground.
The intercept occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. EDT, with the aircraft ultimately escorted safely out of the area. NORAD says the flares were used to attract the pilot’s attention or communicate and burn out quickly without posing a danger to people on the ground.
