Fresh developments have emerged in the case against Brown Mogotsi.

His criminal matter has been postponed to 3 August after the defence was provided with video footage allegedly linked to the claimed staged shooting incident.

The State alleges the footage shows Mogotsi firing at his own vehicle in Vosloorus in November 2025 before falsely reporting that he had survived an assassination attempt.

He faces charges including perjury, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm in public.

Prosecutors also rely on eyewitness testimony, CCTV footage and the alleged absence of other vehicles at the scene.

THE ALLEGATION:

An Uber driver was dropping off the passenger (Girlfriend) when an individual (JubJub) emerged from the premises and accused the driver of being in a relationship with the girlfriend.

The individual (JubJub) then discharged a firearm into the air. Subsequently, the Uber driver opened a case, leading to the arrest of Maarohanye.

A case of attempted murder has been opened.
