Windows 11's January 2026 Update is causing major issues for some users.
Issues include a 'black screen' before the desktop appears, a bug resetting the desktop background, crashing Outlook Classic, and more.
January 2026 Update (KB5074109) is a mandatory Windows Update, and it installs automatically. Bumps OS Build to Build 26200.7623 (25H2) or Build 26100.7623 (24H2).
Microsoft has confirmed that a bug exists where Outlook Classic does not open until you manually kill the process using Task Manager each time.
Moreover, it looks like Microsoft accidentally broke desktop.ini in File Explorer.
If you run into issues, you will need to uninstall Windows 11 KB5074109 and pause updates.
@DanSuzukiTV@sumnsumnjaljr I already see the conversation with my wife, “But it has USB pass thru!” and “Dan Suzuki said it was good!” You think that’s enough to convince her? 😂😂
@formuLau16 Media around F1 has always had a British bias. It's maddening and I always have to mentally block it out. Huge fan of Norris, but I agree with your points.
